The weekend has left the station but will return soon, did you accomplish all that you set out to do?

My weekend was spent in Galesburg Illinois. I'm happy to say that this year was better than last year. Show attendance was up, dealers were happy with the sales volume and BNSF in conjunction with the Galesburg RR Museum did a great job on letting us see the operations of a railroad. The only down side was the number of vendors was down this year, but many who could not make it this year said they will be back next year. I had wanted to start a thread on Galesburg but I forgot my mini USB cable, so I'll do a thread later as I took plenty of pictures. Modeling was confined to my display, the T-Trak modules and a seminar I did on Saturday at the show. I also got to do a lot of railfanning.

I found some good deals too, one dealer was selling new old stock Atlas and Kato locomotives for $30.00 a piece or three for $80.00. I picked up two GP9's that will soon become B&M and one Kato E8B that will soon become a CB&Q E8A. I also picked up Robert Del Grosso's 2011 BNSF Locomotive review so I'm current, and a few Z scale body mounted couplers. I met up with a few Trainboard members and had some good talks on modeling projects as well. All in all a good weekend.

So how about you? Did you get everything done that you wanted to work on? Bench work, track work, scenery? All the above? Diesel detailing? Maybe you took a break and went trackside to your favorite railroad? Whatever you accomplished, tell us about it, with pictures if you have them. We'll do it again this Friday, June 29th. Until then...

I got started on my project for the cottage: a second snowshed this time a curved one. All the stripwod and bents were stained and dried and the jigs designed and assembled.

    Wow, Mark, that's impressive work.

Sadly, there are few events here in New England in the summertime. The next ones don't happen until December, although I might find a local show or two if I do some more digging.

I did get some more work done on that section of street-running track. It's slow, because there's a piece of curved track leading in that needs to be glued in place, and it's right above the subway roof so the base is masonite, not foam, and I can't pin the track in place while the glue sets. So, I had to do a little bit at a time and use Martha Stewart's Hors D'oeuvers Cookbook to weight down the track. I did get the girder rail all wired together, so maybe tonight I can actually bring it all together. I made some progress on the house of ill repute, too. I've got to replace the ink cartridges in the printer, though, before I can print out the floor and wall textures for the interior. This building kit has very thin plastic walls, so I'll need thick cardstock interiors to keep it from glowing like a reactor when I put the lights inside.

Between lawn maintenance and taking down a wall in my kitchen, I was only able to get track down on one end module of my T-Trak yard.

I was in Kentucky all weekend for a wedding, but I did find a Pennsylvania Railroad lantern at a flea market for $35, of course I bought it. Also picked up a couple rock molds on my way through Teays Valley last week.

I'm working for the next 8 days straight, so I'll be weathering cars in my hotel room when I have free time.
