Here we are again, another weekend in the books. Did you accomplish the task list that you wrote on Friday?

My weekend was spent working for the magazine and doing the airplane thing, so save from seeing some full size Union Pacific and BNSF trains, my railroading was limited. This show marked the last of the outdoor shows for the year with only one show (indoor) left for the year, work will resume on my layout. Next weekend is the Decatur show so I'll go from a full weekend of planes to a full weekend of trains.

So how about you? What did you accomplish? What pictures can you share? Let us know how you did and put a picture or two in there as well. We'll come back on Friday the 20th and do it all over again. Until then, have a great week and...

Someone donated some undecorated locomotives to run on the Rosenberg Railroad Museum's HO layout. I need to paint them and add all the details that come with them before putting them to work running on the layout. First out of the gate is a Kato SD-45 decorated in the simplest scheme I could come up with for that locomotive that I had paint and decals for. Larry's Truck Electric number 7527.

I did some wheel cleaning on my motive power and noted that the front truck on my Athearn BB SD40-2 wasn't picking up power. The shell pushed down on the lamp holder, which pushed the contact strip to the motor down and away from the truck contact. I soldered wires on both front and rear (preventive medicine) contacts and the loco ran much better than before. It even was quieter - no mean feat for a growling Athearn.

I also did some filing on the pilots of two of my three Model Power sharknoses - they were way too close to the track and every once in a while gave off a piercing shriek when they rubbed the track. I noticed that my 40-year-old shark already had its pilot filed down - my Dad must have done that job back then - which explained why it didn't shriek like the other two.

I ran trains for a while on Saturday, just letting them loop while I straightened up the train room. This was SWMBO's return from 2 months in Florida taking care of her too-stubborn-to-move-to-assisted-living parents. I had to make sure the house was in good shape. Saturday, I went out car shopping, as my old Saturn needs more "investment" than it's worth to get it past the state inspection due this month. Next time I go to the LHS, I'll be in a new VW Jetta. Other than that and cleaning up the basement where I've also been modeling, I got nothing done.

Very little. Spent more time researching some HO detail parts for a scene in mind, and watching too much football.

I did get to operate at the C&S in Claremore, but we had a newish yardmaster and drill operator, so the yard was knotted up for some time (shades of UP!!).;)

Sunday I watched football, did grandpa duties, and some yardwork, as well as box up some N scale stuff I sold to a fellow in Arkansas. I was gonna do some more car weathering, but I ran out of weathering chalks (my medium of choice), so I ordered from my online pusher- should be here pretty soon.
