Second verse, same as the first. I hate doing things twice, after typing out my weekend and adding a picture of my accomplishments, the whole kit and kabbodle went *poof* into cyberspace, never to be seen again. So let me try this again.......

For once in a very long time, I got to work on trains and it was a welcome change of pace. Friday night I helped out my club set up for the weekend show in Decatur IL then came home and went to work on my two modules. Maywood Station needed the most work so I finished all the scenery with the exception of trees. Wish I could show you my efforts but that is what the original entry went *poof* so you'll have to wait until I can add a picture when I have the patience to deal with technology. Saturday and Sunday was spent running trains, getting some good bargains for the modules and layout and a new book on New England short lines. All in all, a great weekend!

So how about you? What did you accomplish? Let us know, with pictures if you have better luck than me! We'll come back on Friday the 27th and do this all over again. Until then, have a good week and...

    High Greens!

I did get to make my first Hydrocal pours for the concrete apron around the tannery buildings. And, we got caught up watching our "Hell on Wheels" episodes on TV. (HOW is a western about the building of the Transcontinental Railroad. It's on AMC on Saturday nights. Part docudrama, part gunfights. Better than most of what's on TV, IMHO.)

On Saturday, my daughter said, "Dad, can we do a craft project?" She wanted to make a jewelry holder to hang on her wall. She wanted the base to be pink foam, with a front surface of wine corks. So, we cut a piece of foam and spray painted it. Then we found a few of the plastic boxes that the Wal-Mart die-cast cars came in, and some push pins. We went to Staples and got a metal mesh desk accessory, which we cut up for an earring holder. I cut a piece of plywood to put on the back, and found a dowel for rings and necklaces. We spent parts of both afternoons cutting, trimming and gluing. "Dad, this pink foam makes a real mess when you cut it!" By Sunday evening, the project was done, although some of the tacky glue was clearly not dry yet.

Sounds like another cute little kid story, right? Annie is almost 23, and it was just as much fun as it's always been.

I went to a home show at the local fairgrounds that also featured a model train show. Picked up a few unexpected goodies. Now, hopefully, I'll get a weekend of not having anything to do and can start working on my control panel.

Got everything set up to do some serious painting. Then looked at the weather and decided that I will need to be indoors for most of the planned projects. Started thinking I should finally build my new spray booth, for use when it is twenty below zero outside.

Started painting GP7 #1822 into the G&OM's original freight scheme. Olive green with black trim and white lettering, somewhat SAL-inspired. Got base color on, need to paint pilots black and possibly the top.

Also picked up another cheap can of expanding foam and attached more layers of foam scenery base on the middle section of the layout. I've got to clean up and get a picture of the scenic progress.
