The last weekend of September is over, means that wind is gonna get colder here real soon. Saturday I thought I had the day to do what I wanted to do. With no soccer schedule or other activities, I thought I could take the highball into a weekend of accomplishments. Angela had other ideas and so my my accomplishments went the way of the Penn Central. Funny how our significant others always seams to find that last little bit of free time we have and take it away. Sunday however I spoke with a fellow TB member and collaborated on a future N scale project. We plan to combine our efforts in producing an N scale CB&Q inspired modular layout. He will be coming here at the end of October to do a work session at my shop. Who is this fellow TB member? How big will this layout be? What the devil are we up to? All the questions and more will be answered soon. So how about you? Did your weekend plans get hijacked or were you able to get some work done in the layout room? How about a quick show report? Model contests, building work, whatever you got to enjoy this weekend, let us know! We'll do this all over again on Friday October, yes October 4th. Until then, have a good week and... High Greens!
I'm finishing up this cliff-hanging branch line; the "rocks" are a combination of Bragdon and Hydrocal ones. This layout will be part of the Bear Valley Model Railroaders Open House/Layout Tour on Oct. 20: http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?153277-Bear-Valley-Model-Railroaders-Announces John
Nice scene, John! Nicely constructed and very well photographed! I actually made more progress than I'd anticipated. I made up a number of Hydrocal castings for the concrete aprons around my tannery. I ran out of the coloring stuff, though, before I had enough, and I'll need to go to the LHS to get more. So, I started with the first interior for the complex - the boiler house. This one's pretty easy, a small builiding with a couple of tanks made from plastic pipe sections, and a Walthers EMD 567 prime mover kit to look like a motor-generator set. I spent some time cleaning up my workshop, too. The mess had gotten out of hand. While I was on the floor sorting through what to toss and what to put on the shelf, I found a couple of Accurail box car kits I'd forgotten about. So, that brought a smile.
After more expanding foam squirting, sawing, slicing and carving I finally have my scenery base around the first tunnel nearly ready for paint. Still need to cast some rocks and attach them. Looking forward to "planting" trees this winter!
