The clock is ticking and soon it will be Christmas and 2013 is not long for this time. Did you make the most of your weekend? Friday I picked up what I needed to get some progress. Saturday I got a late start to my work thanks to the recent snow. It was a profitable afternoon however as I was able to get the second 18"X 4' module built. Sunday I finished the leg pockets in the module and further refined the assembly of the module, added the floor levelers to the legs and started construction on my special 18"X18" corner module. With both 4 foot modules up on two walls, I can now adjust my track geometry between Potter Place and Concord a bit easier so risers, 1/2" ply sub road bed, road bed and track are next on the list. I also had time to finally set up this years O gauge Christmas train under or near the tree. Only 5 cars again this year since I no longer have the O scale layout I once had, but the Christmas train pulled by a B&M SW9 is popular with the family. Over all, even with all my domestic responsibilities, I believe I got done everything I originally set out to do. So how about you? Friday's attendance on WMP was short with only Mr. Beasley checking in. Have some taken the siding until the Christmas Holiday rush is over? Or maybe you were able to sneak away from the shopping crowds, tangled string of lights and snow removal just long enough to get something done on your mini pike. If you did, let us know with a picture or two. We'll come back on Friday the 20th and do this again. Until then, have a great week and... High Greens!
been sick fighting the chest cold my kids gave me as an early Christmas present. Thankfully, that allowed my ME bridge flex track to arrive, so I may yet make some progress before Christmas.
Yes, we're all busy with other things. I did get all those brick strips installed around the rooftops of the tannery, and I started on the tall water tower. I've misplaced the wire braces for it, though, so it sits unpainted and incomplete on the layout, to keep what is currently an unstable and rickety structure out of harm's way. I know I've seen the plastic baggie with the little wire braces, so it's just a matter of locating them. I've been working on the tannery for too long, so I took my $15 train-show switcher out and started working on DCC-izing it. It's an older Athearn Baldwin S-12 already in Milwaukee colors. I took it apart and isolated the motor, and then temporarily hooked up an old TCS T1 decoder. It worked fine on the program track, and seemed to run OK, as constrained as it was by clip-lead connections. So, it's on to soldering and fitting it back together. It's got no handrails, so that's something I'll have to pick up. I bought some LEDs for it, too. We had planned to go up skiing over the weekend, but the weather was very cold and windy, so we postponed the trip to later this week. I'll have to see what I can get done in the next few days before family obligations take over.
I have been under the weather too. Friday night I thought I was coming down with the flu even though I was current on my flu shots. Chills, fever, cough, runny nose, achy felling like I had been run over by a truck. I dragged myself over to one of the 24 hour clinics where they did a bunch of tests. No, not the flu. Some sort of sinus infection. Oh well, spent Saturday napping and building up some pewter auto and truck kits I had. I feel a whole lot better today.
All I got done the last week is a couple of structures. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
