Another weekend is behind us as we push through the month April. How did you do this weekend?

I had a great weekend running trains at the Decatur Train Fair with fellow club members. I was able to get my other two Maywood Station modules done in time for the show and overall, I'm pleased with my scenery work in both the tree and terrain department. Scenery has never been my strong point, but after experimenting and just "diving in" I think I got the hang of it now. Despite the gorgous day we had on Saturday, attendance was good and sales were strong for our vendors. Sunday, the crowds were down a bit. I was able to purchase the rest of the Kato Bridge sections for my next T-Trak module as well as get some other scenery items. I want my bridge module done in time for the Ohio N scale meet in May, so my weekends will be busy working on that for now. All in all, a great and relaxing weekend of running trains and talking with fellow modelers.

So how about you? What did this weekend find you doing? Any other train shows to report? How about module or home layout work? Whatever you did this past weekend, let us know! This week, we'll get together on Thursday the 17th for an early jump as the 18th is my yearly "Good Friday, Great Railfanning" day and a few of us get to start the weekend early this week. Until then, have a great week and...

    High Greens!

With ski season over, I got back to modeling. I dove right in with that Walthers tank car platform kit. It's mostly done now, but I've still got some of those spindly pipes to attach. I lifted off the tannery section and started working on the spot where the platform will go. While I was in there, I added some Gypsolite for ground texture around the tannery's water tower. Then, while I was spreading Gypsolite, I added some plaster cloth and Gypsolite to a short section of rock wall in the front of the layout, where I had an awkward corner I'd never finished, where the pink foam still showed. The remaining Gypsolite ended up trackside in the back of the layout. I've still got to paint and add scenic stuff, but the Gypsolite dried overnight and it's ready.

I did another pour of Envirotex, putting down the first coat in a small pond, and adding another layer to the larger pond by the tannery. While straightening up my workbench, I came across a package of BTS crossbucks, so those are painted and partly assembled, too. Busy weekend for me!

My wife had been encouraging me to switch from HO Scale to N Scale and has allocated the laundry room closet. I spent the weekend drooling over Atlas and Kato locomotives. Seriously considering this option.

The thought of selling 180 cars is somewhat daunting. Ill have to go through everything and inventory what I'm going to sell and make a spread sheet. Then start selling through our Trainboard sales page. Of course I'm going to keep some favorites, especially my prized DCC-equipped HO motive power for road trips on friends' layouts.

Paul, I like the tidy shelving idea for benchwork. Also, is that crown molding I see in a garage?

I had removed the track about a month ago and yesterday I removed all the wiring and subroadbed from my 10 year old garage layout. I miss it already. Nothing but L-girders and the supporting brackets left. Now if I can just find that pot of gold to fund this next adventure.

I got this SW1000 semi finished...just need a bit of light weathering, and finish up the number boards.
