How was your last weekend of August? Did you get a lot done?

Friday in the shop was productive. I was able to get an older Life-Like GP38-2 running again after taking apart the trucks and giving the wheels a good cleaning and polish. I stripped the paint off the hand rails as they were chipping pretty bad. I now have to use the plastic primer so this time when I paint them, I don't have this issue. The next project was a customers Southern Pacific locomotive that needed grabs installed. That part was easy and took me less the 20 minutes to drill, file and install the BLMA grab irons. Matching the Atlas SP scarlet took longer but I was able to achieve a match, masked and painted it to call it done.

Saturday was an all day soccer day so nothing other than day dreaming was accomplished that day.

Sunday, I started the preliminary work on my fall project, an N scale Inglenook. It's a project I'm using to get a few local guys into more prototypical N scale modeling. So far I have found two full scale Inglenooks that will translate well to N scale both not too far from me in Clinton IL, (Former IC/ICG now CN) and Decatur IL (Former IC/ICG now Decatur Junction). Decatur is holding my interest because I've needed an excuse to model the Nickel Plate looking GP16's they use on the line. Overall a productive weekend.

So how about you? What did you get done this weekend? Let us know. We'll come back here on Friday the 2nd of September. Until then, have a great week, stay safe and...

    High Greens!

After a two month renovation of two spare rooms, I have finally got my space back for my model railroad work bench. Haven't been able to work on any projects without it.

I managed to get the piers built for my mainlines steel bridges. I also built the loading/off loading ramp for my Pacific Motor trucking facility.

And - I got the trestle set on the layout:

Did some bashing of the Gripp's Luggage building to create a larger warehouse. You can see the blank styrene back wall (and part of the left wall to square it all up). After this was taken, I got the roof cut and fit. Next up, the loading dock and some paint.

Didn't get much done this weekend. Mrs. Kitbash and I went out of town for the weekend. We got back mid-afternoon yesterday, so I did manage to get spring-wires formed and connected between 4 tortoise machines and their respective turnouts. Hopefully w/ the long labor day weekend coming up, I can get something substantial done on the layout.
