Did you make it? Did you survive? What did you get done this weekend in the train room?

As predicted, I had a great Thanksgiving feast and a nice day spent with family on the big Turkey Day. Friday was spent on finishing a friends yard work and then Saturday was on us. I set out by spending the morning working on some smaller projects and getting some much needed cleaning done. Sunday, we were blessed with warm weather (almost 60's) so I took advantage of these temps by heading out to my storage unit and cutting up my last pieces of fascia for the third module then spent the rest of the afternoon working on leg braces for said modules. They did not come out as well as I had wanted and I'm still not happy with the results but for now, they function and made setting up the modules in my office much better.

So how about you? Where you able to sneak out into your shop at all this past weekend? If so, what did you get done? We'll come back again on Friday, December 5th to start the process all over again. Until then, have a great week and...

I got most of my plans accomplished, although not quite as planned. As of the "plans" thread last week, my daughter had just changed her mind and was going to drive down for Thanksgiving after all, and I was about to put on shoes to go outside and get the CVP wireless DCC system out of the snow.

Her boyfriend's job responsibility (up in a bucket truck with a chain saw clearing snow damage) went away as the rest of the crew failed to show up, so Annie stayed in Maine. Instead, she came down Sunday and we went out for a very nice sushi dinner. Yummm. And, the box was a wetsuit, not quite the DCC throttles I'd been hoping for. The throttles arrived the next day, though, and I got them hooked up over the weekend. After a short stretch of futility when I could not enter a locomotive address by pressing the LOCO button, I broke down and read the manual which told me the right button sequence to do that, and I had a train running in 30 seconds.

The next (last?) section of benchwork is built, stained and polyurethaned in the garage, and I'll bring it upstairs tonight.

I never got out on the Tour de Chooch, a self-guided home layout tour, this year. I had other stuff to accomplish, but all in all the long weekend was happy and productive.

I got my foam board glued to the HCD for my new N-scale layout. I also installed and programmed a decoder in my first N scale locomotive.

This week I plan on finishing my layout plan and getting ready to lay track. I am also hoping to web set up a site for the layout.

I attended the open house held by a local club and had a ball. Their layout is beautiful with a lot of attention to detail. For example, it's been a few times that I've visited, and it was the first time I noticed a small detail - a dog and a fire hydrant, with the dog doing what dogs do with fire hydrants...:teeth:

None. :( Spent too much time watching football and doing a couple of other things.

Got the lumber cut for the the desk/bookshelves in the train room. Got the pieces from Dad's woodshop to said trainroom in the apartment. Now it's deer season. Once I fill my tag, I've already got my drill batteries charged.

Found a section of track that needed moving (actually 2) to remove some really close clearance issues and then rearranged two of my industries to make it easier to get trains and scenery too.
