Welcome back everyone. I hope you all had a great weekend and got a lot done, let's get rolling. Saturday: After an apple cider donut and some tea, the wife and I left for the Christmas tree. We are old fashioned, in case you haven't picked up on that, so we visited a new tree farm we just found out about. It was a nice, family run farm with plenty of trees and hot coco. After a brief search, Ang found the one and I set about cutting it and heading to the office. Ang found a natural wreath and we headed home for the next phase. The moving or switching of the two rooms took all day, but we managed to get it done, put up the tree and relax with some cheese and crackers, wine and my favorite Christmas movie. Sunday: Ang wanted to spend the day with her almost 90 years young Grandma. We are both in our late 40's so having a grandparent at our age is special. I could not work on the City Job due to supplies being over a week out, so I went with her, dropped her off and went to go bug her dad. I installed the battery tender on the Mustang, and we headed to the local big box store hardware place. I ended up getting enough material to make the legs for the new City Job modules as well as some LED lights for the room the layout is in. A heater for the garage that will come in handy for when the power goes out this winter and some mineral spirits for track cleaning. Confused on mineral spirits? Rons Trains and things YouTube channel has a great track cleaning video, and this is part of the cleaning process. After draining my wallet, we went back to Grandmas and saw the mountain of Christmas candy the two made and enjoyed a nice home cooked meal. We then drove home, and Ang and I installed the lights on the tree and bam, the weekend was over. Overall, a busy weekend, not as much train stuff done but it's that special time of year and as I get older, I appreciate family and spending more time with them more. But what about you? Did you get some workshop or bench time? Let us know. We'll get together on Friday the 10th and start the process all over again. I was a bit premature in my Remembrance Day, its Tuesday so please keep that tragic date in your minds and be thankful of our many freedoms we sometimes take for granted. I also want you all to have a great week, stay safe, be and continue to get well and as always... High Greens!
Good mornin to Y'all I too had a very busy weekend. The Christmas party was awesome. Great friends and too much food. As it should be. We brought out our Christmas decorations. My Mom fell and broke her shoulder and collar bone. Man.... And, I managed to complete another F7 set. SP DF9 class. Hope Y'all had a great weekend, Wolf

Hope y'alls weekend was a great one .
Closest I got to a train was driving over the west BNSF yard lead in Lafayette, LA going to my kid's first karate tournament. https://goo.gl/maps/CZT4qsqo3m9KH6Gf8
Did these up this weekend. 'Mystrium Mound' - built and painted: Top: On Top is my 'Flat Top' cardstock home to be replaced by my fantasy shipping container home this week. 'Bear Cave' just above the Railbox car. Selection of cars deliberate to compare contrast and visibility. The obvious areas between layers of foam are 'fissure cracks' left by the 'mystrium'. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Bottom: 'End of the Line'. North East Section of the Grey and Grandure short line. Freight line fiddle track to the left. Passenger trains from 'Out There' bring in workers to the Grandure Valley. I've never really done this much in all my prior years. I will probably be building a 1' or 2' high mountain view block here. Tracks in the forground lead to the 'Wescott Yard'.
Glued the 1/2" pink foam panels to the two tables using LP records, bricks and even my Lionel GG-1 for weight, and scrap plywood underneath it all to evenly apply it. (The plywood on top is to minimize damage to the album covers.) I first painted the foam with super cheap reject brown paint from Home Depot and mottled it with random light sprays of grey and black from nearly empty cans in my collection. It'll all be covered with scenery eventually, but the varied colors will be less boring to look at until I get there.
Had a good weekend. The steel wire came in and I was able to get a good start on installing the manual turnout controls on the east end of Carlin yard and even got some of the track feeder wires tied down. Then made up the small box that will house the indicator LEDs for all these turnouts. This was made from scraps of hard board. The aluminum bars each have threaded holes for a 4-40 screw that will hold the actual panel.
My tugboat kit is completely finished. Also, after seeing photos of what a friend did at a very recent train show, I have decided to start all over with my T-Trak. First purchase will be a pair of 180 end modules. But this will be after the Christmas mail and shipping season. And we will find out from that point bwhere life takes thisn new venture!
I didn’t get as much done as I would like. Saturday I got the rail soldered to the PCB ties and then had to Reggie the whole piece of track down. While I got that drying I worked on the blue points. I have three assembled out of seven ready for install. Meanwhile my wife got more modeling done then I did as I waited for glue to dry. She set up her Christmas village and train. Even ran the train for a bit. Sunday I got nothing done. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Expecting Banana bread to be shipped to each member here Banana Nut bread maybe sent to me? Special order We all will be waiting, and waiting, and waiting...
Alright, we have to know. What type of music on those albums. Man you are brave, aren't they brittle after this long? Is it the Beatles, Jazz, Pop, I am curious?
Now the correct content that belongs here. Dropped two more DCC feeders on the one 2' x 4' base from the spurs, wired them up, and working. Drilled the holes for the Remote Switches to drop the tiny arse wires through cork roadbed, 2" of foam, and 3/8 inches of a piece of 2x4 cork. What a major pain it was trying to feed those tiny wires through so many layers? Finally a small regular screw driver ended up being the thing I needed to shove those suckers through the holes. Got so frustrated from it, didn't even wire them up after all that trouble How can something that seems so simple, end up taking so long and frustrate you? I'll take care of that at a later date. At least they are under the layout now ready for wiring to switches and such.
No brittleness; records last a long, long time if cared for. They're mostly my wife's LPs and I found '70s pop from her young teen years (Archies, Partridge Family, Donny Osmond, etc.) and moving forward, Michael Jackson, Prince, Adam Ant, Police, Peter Gabriel, Cars, Cyndi Lauper, Earl Klugh, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Creedence Clearwater, Phil Collins and more. My collection consumes only 10% of the shelf. I'm older than she is, so Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Cream, James Taylor, Doors, Crosby Stills & Nash, etc.

Good afternoon from mostly sunny, windy and cold Northeast Ohio! Friday, bowling went well and our team took 5 points from the first place team and moved up in the standings. Saturday, went to the club with my Rapido FA-2's and had a good time with the other club members. Picked up my wife at the Airport from her trip to California where she helped out with the grandchild with pneumonia. Later we attended the club Christmas Party and during the gift exchange my cars made it around to a number of different people when it finally ended. Sunday, did laundry but did start on assembling a Tangent 86' Hi-Cube and starting to disassemble a Kato GP35 for detailing and painting while waiting for glue to dry on the Hi-Cube. I have most of the undeframe details done but have a couple of them to complete before the carside details. Rick Jesionowski
Had a good busy but quiet weekend. The wife had plenty left for us to do on the Christmas decor but we managed to get it all done. I did manage to get a little scenery work done too but nothing exciting. I also figured out what I want to do with one of my small empty spots on the layout. Now I just need to find a friend with a 3d printer that might be willing to re engineer an item from thingverse and print me a few dozen of them. Hope you all have a great week!
I hope Mr. Balandran's mom heals quickly. I do like the little tug. Other great results shown here. I decided it would be a good idea to make some parts backstock in addition to what was needed for the boxcar. I often get distracted like that. I have the sides and doors cut out. I had to get printer ink which seems high priced. This will be used for reporting marks. Can't do without it. I need to check and see if the center beam I had cut earlier is the right size. I hope. Then it is onward and upward! All have a great and safe week. And, yes, remember Pearl Harbor.
I did not post in the "plans for the weekend thread" because I knew i had some "honey do's" to do for Christmas decorations. I did accomplish all of them and here is the outdoor result. Let me be the 1st to wish ya'll a Merry Christmas or Happy however you celebrate, but most important "Best Wishes for a Safe, Well New Year". In my SP world, the SD-40 black widow project is chugging along. I have done all preliminary work on one shell except the 15" drop grabs, I am working on those little buggers. be well, Carl
