The last weekend of February brought a bit of relief in warmer weather for some of us, hopefully this played well into your modeling accomplishments.

Saturday got into the 50's here in East Central Illinois. I took the opertunity to clean and organize my newer and bigger storage unit that I had moved into back in December. This allowed me to find all my O scale items as well as organize the "shop" so I can build more modules. I wanted to get one more module started for the home layout, but ran out of time. I spent a large amount of time working on T-Trak modules as well. I have two double straight modules and a corner module kit on their way. One will be a bridge module, the other an airport. Supplies for Maywood are in route so I hope to finish it in the next few weeks before our club's fun run in March.

So how about you? How was your weekend and what did you do? The Polar Vortex is back for most of us, so we have at least another 4 - 6 weeks of model time before the Spring "Honey Do" list pops up. Show us what you did and how your coming along with your model projects. We'll get together again on Friday, February 28th to bid February goodbye and plan a new weekend. Until then...

    High Greens!

Well, I "got into the 50s," too. In my case, it was the Transition Era version of my "Hide Service Only" boxcar fleet.

The car on the left is the single-sheathed wood version for the Steam Era, while the steel car on the right will served when I'm running diesels. Both are Tichy cars. I've still got some ladders to end to the "new" car.

I glued down a bit of shrubbery on the layout, too, better hiding the gap around the tannery liftoff section.

I was able to get some more track laid this weekend. I am almost to half way point my layout. Which means I will be starting some scenery soon. I have a nice sketch of a ravine to cutout on my layout now where I ended up putting an unplanned bridge. The bottom of the ravine will be a campsite with a bear trying to get in the camper when finished. Today I will run feeder wires to the new track then I need to raise a structure so that locos and rolling stock will clear. Also found that I need to tweak the track plan just slightly. I put a neat looking curve in and when tested the short cars clear it fine but longer ones rub wheels and bog down. So the curve goes and straight track returns. Here is a pic. Also my daughter is starting to help with the layout and learning how to run the trains as well.
