The weekend wasn't a total loss, though. I was able get some farm equipment done for the Smith's Equipment Sales and Service. More to follow.
I got the track on the coal trestle ramp and near the coal yard weathered and ballasted. I added coal, gravel, and sand piles under the coal trestle. I reweathered the track I had done before. I thought the rails looked too rusty. I added the walls behind the coal trestle and added some foam behind the walls to provide support for the walls since they are on the edge of the layout. I need to make my final update to the Winter Layout Party thread.
Friday and Saturday I did a huge cleanup of my workshop, got ancient back issues of Dad's Model Railroader magazines sorted and in the right stacks/boxes, and tools put away. That includes cleaning out most of Dad's tools from the rolling toolbox I brought home. Next in that project, is to vacuum and wipe out the drawers, dust the outside a bit and take it to the train club so my rolling stock doesn't have to travel back and forth. With that done, I finished the latest flatcar conversion (from Tyco to something better)... ...and having redeemed that space, I experimented with one of my test tracks. I have been unhappy with how long it takes to set up a test track on my workbench, and how difficult it is to swap DC to DCC transformers. So, I bought some banana plugs, installed a pair on the test track, soldered connections to the track, and made up a dedicated wiring harness with banana plugs on one end and spade terminals on the other. Once I make up a second wiring harness, all I will need to do to swap transformers, is to unplug and plug. Sunday was church and then train club, but while at the club I was able to run four of my recent flatcar projects for a half hour with the fifth one having a truck fall off. Once home, I replaced the screw with a longer one so that should be good to go for the next time. Monday was Scouts so nothing else got done. Sent from my SM-A716U using Tapatalk
