January is over however the cold winds of winter blow and will continue to blow for weeks on end. Lets see who has taken advantage of these cold days inside.

With the weather looking worse and ice predicted, me and a fellow club member made the decision to leave for St. Charles MO Friday night versus the planned Saturday morning schedule and we were both glad we did. As a club, we had four of us that connected with a friend from St. Louis which gave us a combined T-Trak space of four tables in a reversed C pattern and the ability to run 4 trains at a time. We were able to run two trains on our yellow DCC line. This weekend I ran mainly CB&Q passenger but some B&M did get run as well. I did splurge and purchased the new Broadway Limited N scale CB&Q E8 with DCC and sound and was really impressed. The locomotive really had me acting like a kid at Christmas. Of course many ideas on future modules and I think we all had fun.

So how about you? What did you accomplish this weekend? Be it running trains or working on projects, we want to know. We'll all come back here on Friday the 7th to start the whole process again. Until then, have a safe and warm weekend and...

It was a good weekend for roads. Saturday morning, I removed the big liftoff section that is the tannery, mixed up some Durham's Water Putty and went to work. Durham's water putty is naturally a yellowish tan color.

After it hardened, I sanded the roads a bit to take down some bumps, and then used a wash of gray acrylic craft paint to get the color I wanted. I also mixed up a batch of Gypsolite and coated the "earth" around the roads to give it a gritty texture.

I painted a few small parts, too, as the weather was warm enough to paint outside and not stink up the garage with spray paint.

I was able to glue down some more track. Found some glue that I am most impressed with. Ran a couple locos over the Newly llues down section and all is well. Started cutting foam board to setup my mountain area. Now to do a little wiring and more mountain work.

I fixed the light problem on one of my Athearn GP7s. It turned out that the LED simply quit - I didn't ask what reason, I just replaced it. At the same time I put one at the other end to get directional headlights.

Didn't let a lot done, did manage to patch and number a few units:

CC&CI GP30 #3285. Added Shellscale number board and covered the Nickel Plate number with Flat Black trim film. Still need to patch "Nickel Plate Road" and get get some custom lettering run for me somwehere. This is the standard CC&CI paint scheme.[IMG]

CC&CI S2 #478. Used to be G&OM 78, but this will be renumbered to #478 under CC&CI. Got the patching done, lettering and numbers at a later date.[IMG]
