We'll we're back, how did you do?

As predicted, I got absolutely nothing done in the model railroading department as I was assigned working a both for most of the day Saturday and some on Sunday. It was nice to see some old friends and former work associates. Since Angela works for the company that puts on the show each year, I had to hang out at the show, long after my booth service expired and wait until her duties were done. It made for a long weekend but with that behind me, I can now focus on next weekend.

So how about you? What did you get accomplished this weekend? Let us know with a picture or two. We'll be back on Friday the 12th to start the whole process over again. Until then, have a great week, stay safe and...

    High Greens!

Started out as planned. Worked on two HOn30 locos and their decoders. I got one hooked up to the lights and then started to replace the burned out decoder in the other. Hardest one I have ever done. I had to completely disassemble the engine. Got everything hooked up and put back together. When I tested it it wouldn't move. I could feel the motor running inside the shell but no movement. Time to tear it apart again. Sunday after testing the two locos my son and I started ballasting track. Not bad for two first timers then I planted trees that I made last week. I put 58 on the area I was working on. Now all that is left for this scene is figures, ground throws for the switches, and a little ballast for the HOn30 line.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG] my wife was giving me a hard time because the trees near the engine house seemed out in the middle of nowhere to her.

Had a good modeling weekend. Finished the decaling on my SP SW-1. Got my oil and water columns mounted on their bases. I hate to say this -- it was too darn hot to go up and work on my layout.

Tried out my new Shay. Gathered up supplies to work on my weathering contest entry while I'm away this week.

My CA gave out, so was unable to finish installing window glass in a caboose... :(

I finished up building my 3x5 loco testing and programming "layout" is weekend. Last week I got the wood all cut and put together, this weekend the track and wiring. Used Anderson Power Poles for the rail and programming track inputs, with a double throw toggle to switch the spur between operations and programming. Also added a bi-color LED to indicate the status of the spur: Green = Operations; Red = Programming

I still need to go around the underside with hot glue to tack down the wiring. The little circuit board is a bridge rectifier for converting DCC to DC, and 1.3kohm of resistors for the LED.

Friday I airbrushed one of my DPM kits (first time air-brushing in a long time). I'll have to go back with another coat I think, or I may just leave it as it looks sort of weathered this way. This week I'll have to mask around the windows so I can paint the trim and such. That'll be fun :). Even though my vision is still great, I think I'll have to get a magnifying glass for that since it's in N scale.

Sunday, I cleaned up the train room and organized tools. Also finally hung a train shelf my dad built me a while ago that hadn't been up in the new house yet. Also sanded down my roads to get them smoother, I may try to pain them this week, but I still need to get the grade crossing situation figured out.

My weekend continues today. Today I attempted a little scratch building. I made a fire tower. Now to paint it. Since I will be using the airbrush I am pulling out ampules of stuff to paint up tomorrow. Gotta strip an engine first.[IMG]

Today ended my weekend. Today I went cast with the airbrush. I painted up the fire tower, three locomotives, 4-5 caboose, 2 flat cars, 2 bulkhead flats, 1 centerbeam flat, 2 wood chip hoppers, 3 box cars, and a partridge Ina pear tree...

I succeeded I setting off the smile detectors as well.

Finished this Milwaukee branch line baggage door caboose Sunday. Milwaukee 0930 spent most of it's life in Washington. This was made form a standard offset cupola caboose, lengthened to 33' with a heavily modified Roco cupola repositioned in the center.....
