After another weekend we should have some updated projects from your list. How did you do?

Saturday was exactly as I had planned with the added bonus of having a bright blue sky, sunny day with temps in the high 40's. Had a good time relaxing watching a great indoor soccer game, spending time with family and seeing old friends over dinner. Sunday was a lazy day, sleeping in and making breakfast for my sweetheart but I was able get a lot done on my third and final module. Originally, the module had its legs slide in for a snug fit but this made the modules too wobbly. I've updated my modules with blind nuts and 5/15th bolts to help keep the legs in and keep them more rigid. The use of the blind nut is counter sunk into the end pieces so that when the fascia is installed there are no ugly bolts to show. The last module had holes on the end pieces and this wasn't going to work so I cut two more pieces of 1X3 lumber and replaced the ends. Sounds simple but the process took all of my Sunday. Now I just need to run my bus lines under the roadbed, add the end pig tails and glue the fascia end pieces and I'll be ready to start adding road bed and track.

So how about you? Did you get everything done that you set down as goals on Friday? let us know. We'll all come back here on Friday the 13th and start the process all over again. Until then, have a happy and safe week and...

I went to a small local MRR flea market and found a book and... another loco -a P2K FA-2. I also started painting a Kato GP35 I picked up a couple of weeks ago. And I shoveled more snow (there's that four-letter word again):headspin:

Somehow, I got sidetracked from one train project to another. That power supply did not show up as scheduled, so that job has been postponed. Instead, I decided to upgrade the old Revell station I've had since I was a boy. I used to like it when I'd put a light inside and see the whole building glow like something from the Chernobyl Valley Railroad, but now I'd prefer to only see lights through the windows, the way it works in the real world. So, I carefully disassembled the building.

Amazingly, those clear plastic window inserts were almost all still there. I copied the missing ones, and arranged to put them "upstairs" where the non-transparency won't matter. I printed some interior walls, floors and doors, cut them to shape and glued them inside. Last night, I fitted the whole thing loosely together, and added a couple of lights attached to a 9-volt battery. There are still a couple of glow-through spots that need to be addressed, but overall it's pretty good. I'll put a minimal interior inside, just some budget figures and a bench or two. I just need enough to suggest activity, as the windows are small and hard to see through.

I filled in gaps between the existing road bed strips in the old yard that I removed. That dried over the weekend, going to paint next weekend and start planning. I'm going to use the Walther Plastic Pellet Transfer Silos and the Magic Pan Bakery kits to make the industrial coatings plant. I'm afraid of the silos dominating the scene, might try placing them horizontally... shortening them if neccesary.

I installed the detailed underframe to the body of 1 of 6 Tichy Panel Side Hoppers I've been working on. These are going to be very nice kits. Odd thing is, the pre-fab metal grabs provided are a hair too small. I have some drop step style grabs on hand that fit perfectly, but I want to use the straight-across type on the sides of the car and use drop steps for the end sills. I'll have to find some brand that will fit the spacing.

I am starting a project that takes me on the road again, back to hotel living. Fortunately, this puts me very close to a loose, round-robin group of modelers i used to associate with a few years back. I started go back last week, thankful for having friends near by. Hate leaving a wife and a 2 year old at home, but money is too good to pass up for an 18-month project. I brought some cars to weather this week in the hotel room.

I got this done this weekend...Added the awning to the loading dock, removed the water tower, a nifty little background building from Walthers.
