Welcome back everyone. I hope you all had a great last weekend of March and that you got a lot done. Let's get started.

Saturday: As predicted, I slept in and then got up, put on a pot of coffee then went upstairs while the wife got ready. I played a bit with AnyRail on my HO scale layout and after my second cup had determined a good fit of industries and trackage. Happy with that, I got ready, and we spent the day celebrating Grandmas 91st (not 92 as I had originally posted) Birthday. After so many weeks of long hours, it was nice to relax and visit with family. Once home, I returned my attention to the track planning, and I hope to have something that will work. I will probably post this in my thread latter.

Sunday: I repeated the morning before however the wife had a breakfast surprise of farm fresh eggs and a raspberry sweet bread. I then started to get ready to work on the N scale layout, but something unexpected happened, the sun came out and it was WARM! I simply could not justify being inside so I played with the Falcon, cleaned up the garage, got some core returns ready and then fired up the grill to cook up some hamburgers. The wife and I finished the evening together with burger and a movie. All in all, a great but short weekend.

This week is the start of the end of busy weeks at work. I start work at 7:00am this morning and will be going live (Facebook and YouTube) at 8:00am central with the big reveal as to what Athearn has been working on. I then fly out to Denver Thursday for the Rocky Mountain Train Show then off to California for our annual business meeting. So, if I'm late with the next few WMP and WMA threads, please understand why. After April 10th, things should return to normal.

So, what did you accomplish this past weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Friday the 31st to start the process all over again. Until then, have a good week, stay healthy, be safe and as always...

    High Greens!

Happy Monday! Well, the weekend was a whirlwind of activities and gone before I feel like it even started. Did manage to squeeze in some time at the work bench though. Finished up some loads for auto racks, finished another load of truck frames, and get started on a couple of new freight car loads. All in all, not too bad considering the short times available.

    Good morning to Y'all,

My weekend went as planned -- for once.

Saturday: Our Family picnic was a blast.

Sunday: After our Granddaughter and I went to breakfast, up to the train room I went. In search of some long lost (misplaced) "stuff". Years ago I had purchased a Gold Rush Models conversion kit. To make an SP narrow gauge locomotive ( Either #8 or #9). Well I haven't seen that conversion kit for years. Same for some Wheels of Time SP double deck commuter cars and a model of SP's Palm Springs depot. Well - 2 out of 3 ain't bad. I found the depot, but not the other two. -- Bummer.

    Y'all have a great week!!

Greetings all. Hope everyone had a great weekend whatever you wound up doing.

This weekend "sort of" went as planned. I did not make it outdoors to paint due to some renegade thunder boomers and rain that came through both Saturday and Sunday. Plus yesterday I had an expected "maintenance" thing that cropped up so I did not get to pre-painting the oil platform pieces. Nonetheless.........
    • Got the wing walls built and installed at below the new deck girder bridge. Used 3/8" basswood stock and painted the same as I did the bridge piers.
    • I took 5 Stewart F7 units and plugged the pre-drilled airhorn holes that are in all of them. A couple I got sanded down and polished and ready to do the paint touch-up.
    • Worked on a couple of buildings on the layout that had some "issues". Got those taken care of.
    • Took some trains off the layout and back into the staging yard, plus ran a few yesterday including the Sunday mail train.
    Have a great week all!!

Well, I tore down my layout Saturday to get ready for the move. Packed it all up too.

Sunday and Monday were spent building a little 6” diorama and weathering an Atlas LPG tank car. Diorama isn’t quite done-I will add another couple of figures from Woodland Scenics when they arrive. It’s late now so I’ll just post photos and maybe add some details about the build in my WC thread.

Not a lot. Ordered a few back issue magazines I was missing. Cobbled together a faux over door exterior light for my engine house. And got my 2023 fishing license! :D

    Good Monday morning everyone.

Got the Kato building all taken apart and got a couple coats of paint on it.

    TBWMA27Mar23a.jpg

While that was drying I worked on some signs for the building then started finishing and adding all kinds of details to the module set. On the passenger platform there had been some extra holes that need to be filled in so I added some spue of the right diameter then touched up the paint and added people on the platform to help hide it.

    WU26Mar23c.jpg

Also working on some gates at the ends of the platform to hide some more extra holes in the platform. The large holes in the platform are for the roof. These projects will continue and I'll wrap it up next weekend.

First of all, if Jim Wiggin's grandmother is 91, then Jim is younger than I imagined him to be (a total guess since we've never met). This is because my mother is 93 and my grandmother was born in the 1800's.

    In any case...

Friday I did homework. Then went out to the Sebring Model Railroad Club for our latest work day where we are renewing our push to get *something* done on our new port facility. By the time I got there, it had been decided to make yet another change to the benchwork that we thought was nearing completion. This change was to make the water part bigger again, after the last change made it smaller. This time, there is a diagonal cut that will make room for a grain ship to dock at a newly imagined seaside grain elevator. Of course, this meant that our time Friday was spent cutting plywood and reconfiguring the supports underneath. Once that was mostly done, we discovered that the seams where the plywood sheets come together, flexed independently of one another if weight was put on them. Once we scenic this, a flex like that will shatter the "water." This is a problem because the flex is at a point where the mainline runs underneath and that, in turn, is why there was/is a gap in the supports in that place. That's where we stopped for the evening because our daughter was coming over to drop off their dogs for us to dog-sit for a couple days.

    Saturday was more homework.

Sunday was church, then a quick lunch, then out to the train club where we figured out a plan to add support so that the plywood doesn't flex as much, and to bridge the plywood seams so that, even if they *do* flex, they'll flex together. It won't be perfect, but hopefully once the area is scenic-ed, no one will need to stand on it anyway. Then I dashed home, changed clothes, and went to my wife's employee and volunteer appreciation dinner. Afterwards, it was back home and a little more homework.

Monday I was back out at the train club by 7:00 am to meet a contractor for an estimate to insulate the club crawlspace. I should have his estimate in hand by the end of the day. Another contractor is coming on Wednesday, and a third has yet to make an appointment. While at the club, I worked on our bracing solution and balanced our financial accounts, then stopped on the way to work to make our bank deposit and mail the our payment for the electric bill.

Gotta' make hay while the sun shines! Flat car load! ;) The lost treasure. Trains running! (y) Diorama looks real. (y) Yep. Time for ...Fishing! Platform looks real too. (y) Did someone say "homework"? Shattered water! Sounds like science fiction. Table vid, high quality. :) Not much done this weekend other than planning. Did visit the local model railroad club at the mall. Pulled tendon in left foot exercising last week. Pain much better now. Severe weather south and southwest of where I am caused fatalities. As I began to type my part of this post, TV stated six children dead at school shooting, Nashville. I am thinking we should all take a minute to be thankful that we are safe. Have a good week. :D

Made another pair of custom-fit Kato Unitrack bridge abutments for my N Scale road. I might add some more detail, then paint.

Saturday was a raw, rainy day. We did some cleaning around the house including the infamous laundry. We did venture out to Target and Petco to grab a few things. Sunday was far better with sun and mild temperatures. I got the arbor put back up and secured. I reattached an ivy blanket that goes over the fence behind the pond that hides our neighbor’s compost pile. The blanket was blown off the fence in the recent storms. We got some planting in the pots in the front yard done and I feed the crocus, daffodils, and tulips. I had to do an emergency cleaning of the oven after a spill smoked up the kitchen and set off the smoke detector while my daughter was making dinner.

I did not get as much done with modeling as I had expected. I did get about half a wall painted for the Morgan House kit. I entered and/or updated a bunch of rolling stock into my inventory program. I discovered a couple of locomotives that I did not know are actually DCC ready. On the flip side I found a couple that I thought were DCC ready are not. Looks like I need to take another look at a bunch of locos. I ran a consist of two Atlas B&O GP40’s. I had some issues with a power draw while running them aka the fuse got bright. After some fiddling, I let them run for awhile and the issues faded. I then began adding cars to the train with no issues. If all goes well, I will have a new video to make.

As I suspected I got nothing done railroad wise. After I got home from the bowling tournament I just had a adult beverage and took a nap before having a late dinner and then going to bed so I could get up at 5:00 in the morning to inspect and tape the lanes.

    Howdy folks

I worked hard at the weekend. My old new bridge robbed me of several hours. But now things are moving forward again.

I have an LED in the trailer (it’s an out of production Nucomp kit, #705(?), came with a little extension on the trailer). The wires run underneath from the LED to a couple of resistors I had to a 9V battery hookup. Later on I might add an outdoor light on the trailer. The current LED puts off a faint glow in the first window, like a small table lamp.

This is for my next cubicle, which I haven’t seen yet but I am assuming will be very small, so this has to small as well. A battery gives me the ability to move it wherever it isn’t tied to a wall socket. And I prefer 9Vs for these because they are less likely to end up in somebody’s else device or remote control like AA or AAA.

    Hey All, Happy Monday,

Great stuff all! For me, in addition to some car projects (weathering, decaling) and yard work, I managed some time to work on graphics for my Wichita & Northwestern concept. I still don't have all the details of the stencils worked out, but made some good progress on a fresh herald graphic.

    Accurail-WNW-3-bay-hopper-c.png

I need to add a volume capacity data somewhere (I think). My printer won't quite print decals at sufficient resolution to make out the grease/maintenance stencil, so might have to call a friend.

Hope you had a good one!
