    Yes, they are both passenger cars.

    Here is a normal car riding on trucks located on each end :

    Here is an articulated two car chair-car set. Truck on each end with both cars riding on one set of trucks in the center :

    So my Kato Amfleet cars are like the one at the top, trucks at each end of each car. But my Kato Gunderson MAXI-IV all share the same trucks. Are they articulated? Not sure I am explaining this correctly? What is the reason for car sharing trucks? Sorry, asking too many questions, I'll stop now :)

    Yeah - the Gunderson's are articulated.
