Hard to believe we're halfway through November, especially when we were wearing short sleeves yesterday in central Illinois. That didn't stop progress however.

Saturday, I got to work on about four N scale Paducah Geeps. I got a lot accomplished and should be able to button these up and get them into the paint booth soon. Two are Paducah rebuild GP8's in Illinois Central orange and white, the other two are GP7 rebuilds and will be Maine Central and Rock Island. I worked on them until 1:00 until switching gears (literally) by draining, cleaning and refilling the coolant and replacing the thermostat in my Jeep. Didn't get to the plugs and ignition wires, will have to do that later.

Sunday was beautiful, in the mid 60's and a great day for a train show. I left for my friend Brian's house at 7:00, met him in Normal at 8, and got some breakfast on the way to the show. The show is a small one but always good to find a few bargains and re-connect with some fellow modelers. I picked up a deal on a Wabash gondola for the Galesburg Modules and some cool CB&Q post cards that will look great in the layout room. Next, Brian and I went for lunch and caught two east bounds and one west bound BNSF freights at Houllihans Curve before going to a local train shop where I scored a deal on a bunch of Walthers Cornerstone Modules kits as well as a Micro Trains gondola. All in all, a great weekend.

So how about you? What did you get accomplished this past weekend? Let us know! We'll come back on Friday the 20th and start the process all over again. Until then, have a great week, stay safe and...

    High Greens!

Well I got some of my "crap" put away and thrown away. Emptied 2 boxes. Also fired up the layout to run a few trains and found a gremlin. One whole power district consisting of three subdistricts shorted out. One sub district completely dead the other two kept firing. So time to pull all three pax boards and check each one individually. I know power getting to each board, the LEDs were blinking. Just what I needed right now was something else I can't get to. Sigh... well I still have today (sort of-I go and help out the local Jr. High band today) and tomorrow before my weekend is over. Also watched a couple of my foamer flicks to get me into the modeling mood. It worked too.

Saturday, went to Trainfest and met up with two friends there. Got some goodies, including rolling stock, a new Kato CNW SD40-2, and some tools from Toolman. Yesterday I installed and programmed the decoder in the new CNW.

Last night I also started figuring out what's left for the main wiring of the layout. I have mos of the feeders installed and wired up, but I need a few more. I also want to start mounting the electronics such as the Digitrax PR-3 and such - them sitting on the floor and the wires all over the place are starting to drive me crazy :)

Had a disappointing start to the break-in run for my new 44-Tonner, until I thought to really clean the wheels. Never had a new loco with such filthy wheels right out of the box. Got it running smoothly for a couple of hours while I cleaned the wheels on the rest of my fleet and did a few other odds and ends.

On Sunday I hauled the new switching layout frame up to it's new home and set things up. Took some pictures and started a new thread for it on the N scale forum: Weaver Junction.

I stopped by the local hobby shop to pick up some strip wood so I can get started on assembling the two laser cut wood kits that I have. Other than that, I threw together a couple of Revell Star Wars The Force Awakens kits that I found.

Put up track lighting fixtures in the train room, as well has had the painters in to paint molding and doors. Tomorrow they're coming back to finish the attic stairs. Ever so closer to final inspection and BENCHWORK!!!!!!!!

Yeah. I'm getting excited. Tired of seeing those boxes of code 83 track I've been hoarding piling up in the workshop. The track, the cars I've built, the engines, the whole nine-yards of 'em needs a job to do!! Yeah, I'm getting excited. Sorta like the first date and the parents are gone for the weekend! I'm stoked.
