Welcome back everyone. I hope you all had a great weekend and got a lot done. Let's get started and share what we accomplished this last weekend of October.

Friday: This was the weekend we went from shorts and t-shirts to jeans and flannel. While it was still warm, I washed and cleaned the motorcycle and covered it up for the winter.

Saturday: As predicted, it was a busy day. We met Ang's dad for breakfast then went to the dealership where his truck had been serviced and we then drove all the way back to his place, an approximate hour and fifteen-minute ride. Once at his place he showed me how great of a job the machine shop had done to the Falcon's cylinder head. I left a few parts with him, and we then visited Grandma and took her out for a nice dinner before heading home.

Sunday: The weather was a cold 29 degrees, a far departure from the 70 we felt on Friday. I made coffee and relaxed by watching some YouTube videos then got cleaned up, moved the car outside and turned on the garage heater. I spent the better half of the morning taking out the air conditioner, cleaning it and putting it away. I sealed the window and then spent the rest of the day cutting and gluing the backdrop on the shadow box. By 7:00pm I had finished this task but ran out of material and time to finish the outside fascia.

Here it is with one of the two modules set inside to illustrate my work. We finished the evening with a bowl of popcorn a few favorite shows before getting ready for bed. And like that, yet another weekend was over.

So how about you? What did you get done? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Friday, November 3rd to start the process all over again. Until then, have a good week, stay safe and as always...

    High Greens!
    &
    HAPPY HOLLOWEEN!

I got the hip injection on Friday afternoon, and everything went smoothly. However, around midnight the anesthesia must have worn off because I felt pain like I had before the injection. I took a couple of Tylenol, and the pain did reside to the point where I could sleep. Saturday the hip was stiff with occasional pain that went away quickly. Sunday was mostly pain free until I over did something. This morning I have some soreness and it is a little stiff.

Saturday I was able to run to PetSmart, the pharmacy, Kohl’s for a couple of Amazon returns, the grocery store, and get the car washed. All in all, it was a pretty good day. Sunday, I took it easy. I did a few light things around the house such as helping my wife with her harvesting of the herbs. I cleaned out the refrigerator and did some laundry. I did not carry the baskets, my daughter did that for me.

Since I could not stand for long periods of time, I was not able to speed match the locomotives as I had intended. I did, however, change the couplers for seven new Rivarossi boxcars. I also spent time updating my computer inventory.

Friday there was a trunk or treat at the elementary school.

Saturday we watched my youngest win her first soccer game. She was very excited. We did some chores and cleaned up the house and yard a bit.

I played with my layout a bit more on Saturday.

Sunday we invited friends over. Our neighborhood does a Halloween parade, so we went to that and then our kids carved pumpkins. And by kids, I mean parents, because only my 12 year old stuck around through the entire process. Everyone else is 9 or below and participated from time to time.[IMG]

Chemical plant in the corner. The brick building in front will be a printing plant, and it won’t go here-decided I don’t want to reach over it. It will go on the peninsula.

Good morning from rainy and cool Northeast Ohio.

Did not get as much done as I would have liked but I got one side of the boxcar and covered hopper decals and I am up to adding the grabs and other detail parts to the Tangent gondola.

Friday night bowling was another dismal showing, will have to rethink some of my options for the next week.

Saturday’s club meeting was a little contentious due to a club member who did a uniformly bad job of ballasting the grain elevator yard trackage, all the turnouts had to be removed and the ballast removed which took about 15 hours. The result of which is we are having a clinic at the club in November on ballasting techniques. We also went and visited Ron Morgan’s modern UP layout and was impressed with his scenery and operation along with his mammoth ethonal plant.

I am writing this as my wife is getting her Physical Therapy on her knee. TomPM, sounds to me like your hip is like mine was 13 years ago, I had a hip replacement and the pain has been gone since then, if you need it don’t delay.

Greetings from a warmish McLean VA.
Received initial order of track and cars.
Was able to use the turnouts to setup and measure how much space a yard would take up using #4s.
From that measurement was able to get more layout planning closer to scale.
For more info my layout thread is under 'HO', 'The Grey and Grandure Goes Upscale'.
With any luck this time next week I will report painting the ground and laying track.

    Good morning everyone,

Getting cooler here too so I also put away shorts and got out the sweatshirts for the season. The last of the cucumbers and Goya got harvested and the garden cleared out.

Finally got finished with the Ntrak staging yard. Walked up to the local True Value for a replacement for a long carriage bolt (leg adjuster) that was bent. Last thing I did was to touch up the one small area of scenery.

    Before:

    After:
    TBWMA30Oct23c.jpg

The yard and it's set of legs packed up and ready for the setup in early December.

With that project all done, I focused on the controls for my friend's staging yard and made some good progress. By Sunday afternoon was able to start testing some of the features.

    Top-of-the morning to ya!

I had hoped to complete this project last week but did not. It is still not totally done as I have the cab unit with some chrome work that I did yesterday, still drying. At any rate here is the latest, I have found some required "fixes". Keep in mind this is N scale ! :

The cab unit is turning out to be a real challenge !

That shadow box is cool. (I hate it when I run out of material.) I hope the hip thing settles down soon in your favor. Coupler change out should help car performance. :) Let's hear it for soccer girl! Building placements look interesting. I hope Mrs. dti406's knee therapy is a big help. (y) Fifteen-hour track work job. Uh oh. :( Track laying report is anticipated. Buried old projects does sound a little Halloween. Before and after pics are always interesting. Circuit work looks A-1. ;) I am the mayor of "Hoped to Finish last week." Cool looking rig. (y) I attended the Smokey City Fall train show Saturday. Good to see folks I had not seen in a long time. (y) I am still working on running gear. I plan to make side frames and attach wheels soon. I will also begin test fitting window panels and hopefully making doors. I am trying not to watch too many scary movies at this time. Have a happy Halloween.:D

Happy Monday from the A T L on an exceptionally warm and partly sunny beautiful October 30th. Unfortunately I am trapped inside the office.

The weekend went about half as expected and accomplished maybe half of what I set out to do. Friday evening and Saturday, I got a lot of detail and project parts painted. Installed metal wheels on 4 cars, ran trains for a bit and consumed my quota of coffee. :coffee::coffee::coffee: Got about half the yardwork I had planned done but did not get the lumber moved that I need to move.
Sunday, the wife had other ideas of things that we needed to go out and do so the day was pretty much a wash and I was pretty tired by the end of the day. Didn't sleep well all weekend either so that hasn't helped. All in all though, good weekend and now I'm ready for the next one.

Hope you all have a great week!!!!!

Nearly all of Friday was spent doing homework and not much else but I got all of my reading done.

Saturday I got up really early (because the cat had zoomies and the dog had to go outside), had breakfast, and typed my homework discussion points and submitted them so that I was done shortly after 9:00 am. Then I did some chores, had lunch, and took a short nap before going to our church district charge conference (where I invited a bunch of people to the Sebring Model Railroad Club open house next month).

Sunday, was church, and our celebration of All Saints Day and all those whom we have lost in the last year. After church was lunch, then out to the train club where preparations continue for open house. I spent much of my time wrapping up the month's bookkeeping while another member finished installing and painting the seawall on our new port facility. Once he was done, I took over, trimmed the excess lead rails from the car float and installed the wye switch that feeds it. After briefly checking in at home and letting the dogs out, I went back to church for a scout troop committee meeting from 6:00 pm to just past 9:00 pm.

This morning, Monday, I went to out local Scout Council office and Scout Shop to deliver forms for two new merit badge counselors (one of which is my wife) for the Horsemanship merit badge and was informed that two MORE forms will be required. I also stopped to see if the Railroading merit badge books that I ordered had come in but, for some reason, they are having a hard time getting those from the national warehouse. After that, I returned to the train club where I finished my monthly financial report and made our bank deposit.

Below are this week's progress photos of our Ohio River, Port of Catoosa port facility.

Late Monday afternoon greetings all. Hope posters and lurkers all had a fabulous weekend. Here in Raleigh things went about as planned. Went out Saturday to see N C State play Clemson. Had a great tailgate for about 3 hours w/ my oldest daughter and her husband. Then watched the 'Pack defense shut down Clemson for the win. Great afternoon.

Sunday, I got the actual SL cabin building almost finished. Still needs a base. Most C&O cabins had a standard outside "privy" w/ a screen wall. I ordered one today from the C&O Historical Society. It also needs a double semaphore signal which I am researching parts for that project. The picture below shows where this will be positioned.

Everyone have a great and pleasant week coming up.
