Well it was my birthday on Sept. 1st. and my wife took me to the hobby shop and she bought me a Spectrum Baldwin 2-8-0 Consolidation and tender steam locomotive! First to my wife THANKS! I wanted to share this new gem with all of you. As Spectrum has really been doing a great job on there locos. Back a few months ago my wife had also bought me there 3 truck shay. And I must say the New Spectrum line is like near brass quality. This 2-8-0 runs on 18 R. track and pulls like a big steamer. She works great in yards, witch I find few steam locos make yard duty because they always pick switches. But not this guy. The detail is just unbelievable! So I took some photos of the 2-8-0 and thought I'd share them with you! :D

My birthday was also on September the First (A big 23) anyway.. I got a pile of decals, 2 Life-Like P2K SD-7/9's and a bunch of coal cars to boot! So... How young did you turn on the first?

Have a blast.. Run some trains... :D

Beautiful loco, I have a consolidated from IHC that I really like (the detail barely even compares to yours though, it doesn't have the realistic and heavy iron look of yours). Also paid a visit to your website. A lot of trackage and switches. A really fun use of space really. Quick question, I am modeling the 1950's and 60's as my theme, what deisel power can I get away with? What were the first deisels?

    WOW!!!
If the Spectrum Russians look half as good as your Consol, I'm gonna have to get me one!
Yeah, I know, I'm modeling in N scale now, but I keep my eyes open for Friaco-type models in HO scale too. Besides, Frisco had quite a few Russians, and one (1630) is still in use at the Illinois RR Museum.
Hmm, October 25 is a bit more than a month away, so....

    Justind,
Your modeling the 50's and 60's.... to get away with diesels you can run F-7's, F-9's, GP-7's, GP-9's, SD-7's, SD-9's, Any E class loco's. Their may be more thats a list off the top of my head... Anyone else know any I missed? Please post them... I have a real good memory but not that good! :D

Alco RS series, and FA series for sure (and S1 thru S4) could also use Century series depending on how far into the 60's.

    Gary,
    I knew I forgot some. I had the EMD's on my mind so. :D Anyway, if I missed anymore please lend a thought of mind to help....Also, Baldwins, RF-16's, S-12's, AS-16's, DRS-4-4-12, DS-4-4-16, DS-4-4-18, Trainmasters (DS-6-6-16?).

    A bunch of them anyway...
Also, EMD's, SW1-9's, NW-2's, I believe that the TR1-3's were also from the 60's (not quite 100% sure). I do know the Fairbanks-Morse diesels were.... I believe all the Fairbanks-Morse diesels were from the late and early 50's and 60's... I can't think and imagine all the diesels from the era.... I know theirs a mess of them! More then just one mind could think of at one time...

Well I don't know about y'all, but my birthday was on the 12th day after the attacks in NYC and DC. Talk about a birthday gift from hell! Geez!! Well anyway I'm hoping I get something out of this for Christmas, maybe another steam loco to add to my collection. Until then happy birthdays to those who already had them! :D

Actually, I believe the TrainMasters were made by Fairbanks-Morse. The model designation is H24-66. FM also offered a series of yard and road switchers, such as the H10-44 and H12-44 yard switchers, and the H12-44, H16-66 and H16-44. The TrainMaster was easily the best known of the series, probably because some lasted so long in service on the Southern Pacific and other railroads.

Thanks for the list, it is much larger than I had expected. I'm not a stickler for reality, but I like to keep as real as possible within my limited budget...however, if I like a certain thing, it will usually find its way into the layout somwhere. thanks,

    AK,
I just mixed all the designations together. i now seen what you were correcting with me posting the Baldwin locos and then not mentioning the FM series loco's. I didn't realize I did that.... :D diesels, diesels, diesels... I'm for the steam, steam, steam...... HA! :D
