I was thrilled to see an ASTER Gauge-1 live steam model of NYC J-1c 5265 at the annual international live steam convention in Diamondhead, MS yesterday. It was being offered for sale at around $3,000 (IIRC). Sadly, they wanted 100% payment and I was a little short.
She's a beauty. Good thing I wasn't there, would have been sorely tempted and gotten into big trouble with SWMBO.
Those Aster models are very nice and this one seems to have been a bargain. I knew I had an old Aster catalog around here somewhere. I found it and it had a price list dated 1991. The NYC J-1c was not in there, but there was a Commodore Vanderbilt priced at $5,780.
