I just want a simple answer from those that use this combo of the JMRI software with the locobuffer. How often do you receive timeouts when reading the full sheet that you are on, for example the speed table sheet I want to read the decoder setup for this sheet only before I go changing things. Right now I am using a MS100 with my Zepher and the thing timeouts alot while reading the sheet it never grabs the info the first time and it gets frustrating because if it misses a CV it rescans the whole sheet and sometimes it does it 3 or 4 time in a row. Maybe this is the nature of the beast or the hardware I was just wanting to know if it is the hardware before I go and throw down $70 bucks for a Locobuffer and find out I have the same problems.
I had the same problems with the MS100. Some one here once suggested that locobuffer was the way to go. I did that and since then I have had no issues with timeout.
Paul: Paul Bender would be the best person to answer your question about the JMRI software and LocoBuffer as he helped develop parts of the program. He posts on Trainboard occasionally. Stay cool and run steam......
Unfortunatly, I know very little about how the LocoNet connections work. Most of my work has been on either new generic features or the XPressNet (Lenz and others) interface code. The best place to get answers of this kind is on the jmriusers list hosted on yahoogroups. Paul
On the Digitrax Yahoo Group, people say that the Locobuffer II (now USB) is lightyears ahead of the MS100. Everyone says that the MS100 is a waste of time and would only lead to frustration. Going to get a Locobuffer II USB soon.
Thats kinda what I thought I am using winxp and the MS100 works but the locobuffer usb looks that much better I will check the yahoo group and see what they have to say.
The only time I've had a "timeout..." error is when the settings got changed. (by me). Once retuned to original, no errors since. Using Win2K. Martin Myers [ April 09, 2006, 10:57 AM: Message edited by: mfm_37 ]
