Trying to find a DCC board for my new ALC-42 has been an exercise in futility. The manufacturer(s) of the component(s) is not important, but ease of installation is. Can anyone suggest the proper choice, please?!
I put the Digitrax DN163K4A in mine and got it to work. (That's for the Kato N scale model) Gave me a little issue at first working with the shell off but not on but after a few tries, it started working. Not sure what I did or didn't do. The TB advertiser i got my decoder from says out of stock now but another TrainBoard advertiser PnP Trains shows 4 in stock.
I'm relatively new to the realm of DCC installs and after watching a few videos about installs on this engine, I was able to do it successfully and even added the Kato light kit. Its the same Kato 11-211 passenger car lighting kit for the engine. One for sure tip, Find the vids on YouTube about a molded section inside the shell that needs to be removed. Won't fit back if you don't do that. Wasn't super hard, just slow and careful wins this one. Here's a pic of mine on the layout.
