Anybody care to share about large consists run? How big are your power moves? Anybody max out a consist of power to a power pack? How many before overloading the power pack? Is there a power pack of all power packs? Thanks and God Bless! We need a Athearn of N Scale! Dave
Well, my standard is 2 SD60, and on the high density, shorter main, we only have one power set, of an SD45 and a GP35. The biggest I have done is 3 SD60 at the head, and a SW1200RSu-2 in the middle. Happy Railroading! Dane N. ------------------ TAMR2860-AKA BC Rail King TAMR2860@hotmail.com
I don't HAVE seven -9's We have run 4 or 5 units up front and 2 or 3 mid-train, or pushing, all 6-axle. Up 3% grades around tight curves with no problems. Isn't N scale wonderful? ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.ac-models.com Andersley Western Railroad Alan's American Gallery Alan's European Gallery Alan's British Steam Gallery
I have run with 2 SD60's on the front of 30 thrall cars and 2 gp40's on the rear of the train, I have a 2% grade on my layout and always run multiple units. Never had a problem ------------------ http://members.optusnet.com.au/~pcassar/index
OH YEAH.... Pulled a MASSIVE Stacker on an N-Trak set up once. Those Walthers cars can put alot of extra weight into the train. Let's see, the train was over 3/4 a mile long-scale and had 2 CW40-8's, 1 C30-7, 2 SD45's, 2 CW44-9's. That would be 2 Spectrums and 5 Katos. The power packs weren't even strained and everything ran well together. Got some great Video of it too! ------------------ RAILROADING-TO-THE-MAX, Burlington Northern/Santa Fe Style! I remeber at a N-traks layout seeing 10 GP9 and SD9 on a train. They had them all sread out. ------------------ Theres no such thing as having to many coal hoppers or GP40-2 when you model Chessie System LONG LIVE THE KITTEN!!! LONG LIVE BIG BLUE!!! Well, there was an NTrak layout in Tacoma (?) at a show, where I saw 8 GP9s, not bad! I ran a train with 4 SD60s at the head today, but it looked funny, so I took off one and used the other as a helper. Looked alittle better, however, 1/3 of the cars I own were on that train, lol! Whenever I get my 8'x 16' layout done I will have to push probably a 5 unit minimum for my steeplike williams loop grade. Also, I think DP is in order for the mountain. I'm a little leary about running a bachmann with a Kato or Atlas! Dave
My Bachmann C40's have to stay away from my Atlas/Kato units, but I guess the DCC boys could 'tune' them to run together! That is why I would like to re-power them with Kato C30-7 or U30C chassis. ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.ac-models.com Andersley Western Railroad Alan's American Gallery Alan's European Gallery Alan's British Steam Gallery
Not sure DCC can work that many miracle Alan Happy Railraoding! Dane N. [b/] ------------------ TAMR2860-AKA BC Rail King TAMR2860@Canada.com for TAMR info. To send a general TRAIN! E-Mail send to BCRailKing@Canada.com
Biggest lashup was 147 cars with about 8-9 engines on point. Engines were Kato and Atlas and different units and roadnames. this was at a rather large Ntrak layout at a Greenburg show. The train still stretched to almost three corners of the layout. The hit was the last car (no caboose) It was a "bathtub gondola" LITERALLY! It was a doll house bathtub complete with faucets which one of the guys added MT trucks and couplers We showed the HO guys and told them that it was one car they will never see done in HO!
4 -9's up front with 2 SD60's in the middle. (this was with my club) ------------------ Craig Martyn BLMA(best looking models around) Custom painting and detailing
