Regarding the City of LA being done by Kato. By the looks of things Kato are using the Coach and Coach-Dome that were in the 4 car packs done a few years ago, all the other cars are new tootlings. The Great Nothern (really UP) smoothsides are not totally inaccurate. I believe the RPO is modelled on a GN car and also the GN did buy a few coaches from UP (Those were built by ACF and were almost identical to the Pullman Standard ones done by Kato).
