I have a Kato F3 that I purchased in pieces. In trying to reassemble it, the motor does not seem to fit in the frame right. Can anyone send me a scan of the Kato parts list and diagram? Is the F3/F7 motor different from the rest of the Kato motors?

Hello John, a warm welcome to trainboard [IMG] The covered wagons are a bit early for me, so I don't have any of them, and cannot comment on the motor types, but someone here will know, I am sure!

How was it that you acquired it in pieces? (and are you sure you were supplied the correct motor?) Anyway, good luck with putting it back into working order [IMG]

I have a Kato Parts list at home. I will get you the info tonight (my time). the F7 is not that complicated, be careful with the shell removal and installation. :D

Hi Alan, I am not sure that it is the correct motor. It appears to be about the same dimensions as my old Atlas/Kato RS3 motor.

I have found my KATO Parts catalog. There are two different motors fitted to F7s. You require either the 926020 motor as in the original F7 or the 926060 motor as was in the revised. By the detail shown in the catalog, the original motor had detachable flywheels, the revised does not seem to be the same. I do not have a scanner, I will attempt to get a Digital photo of the Catalog and Email it to you. In the mean time, some one else may be able to clarify what serial numbers where the original and then the revised edition. I believe the 176-050 to 176-105 was the original whilst 176-210 to 221 was the revised. There are also different numbers for the trainsets. ;)

John, the Kato motors have been fairly well standardised from the start. Every one I have seen used in a US outline loco has been the same design up to the SD40/45's, so I would assume you have the correct motor.

As for the parts view, I thought Harold Riley's site may have had a scan of it, but alas, no. Everything else, though (just about)!
If Mick doesn't have it up a little later, or hasn't sent it on to you via email, I'll do a scan of it for you.

Let us know if you receive anything.

    Gary.
