I must be extremely lucky. I've never had a locomotive that I've so much trouble with that I needed to send it back to either the shop I bought it at or to the manufacturer. The only issues that I've ever had were minor (missing parts, etc.) and I took care of those myself. Compared to what was going on in N scale back when I first started (late 70s), I think N has come a long way.

    John:

I agree with you. I've been always able to make minor repairs to many of my steam locomotives. I never had to send back any of my steamers to a manufacturer. All my Kato GS-4's (7) run beautifully. They do have to be handled with care at all times.:cool:

I wanted to add that this post inspired me to come up with a solution for something that drives me nuts. Many of my engines are IMO, to tightly packed. I thought it was just me. For Bachmann locos, I put the inserts in upside down and discard the warranty paperwork.. No more problems. I didn't have a Kato soln. For the Kato Mike I was putting away today, I simply removed the paper insert, no problem putting it in the box.

I've said before, this will be my first Kato American prototype steam loco. I have several Japanese prototype steamers (C62, D51, C57 and a C11), which all run beautifully from the box. I don't own a GS but I have no doubt that the FEF will be a great model to add to my collection.

With a few exceptions, it certainly has moved ahead.

That is not the policy. Nor the facts of the matter.
You may not mention any retailer with the exception of retailer/manufacturers within the context of their manufacturing rule.

And for the record, it is considered standard policy on most any internet forum for discussions of moderation to occur in PM and/or off the message board as they are off topic. Trainboard is no different. It is considered proper internet etiquette. You may disagree, but you would be in the wrong on 99% of English speaking forums on the web.

Ouuuuu-weeeeee... am I going to be even less popular in a moment once I comment on that post.

I happen to agree with the Admin... It's the right 'business' decision... it's NOT liking or disliking.

Unfortunately... this site HAS to be supported by advertising and the donations of members... It's just business.
We want a great site to discuss and show our models... businesses can make their presence known and support this great Forum. It's not right to allow other businesses which are NOT supporting TB to get free advertising through a post... even one that is not particularly stating the full name or website... some of these larger concerns are known by an abbreviation. I've done this myself and have been advised by the Admin to desist... and pointed to the TB policy. It's a FAIR way of doing business.

Exactly, they are aggressive in the interests of keeping the lights on here. It can be frustrating at times, but I'd be even more frustrated if the place closed down over some fool commentary on joe-bob's house of trains and live bait (horrible customer service. You should buy from ACME. And the bait is lethargic on the hook.)
