If Kato were to rerun an older loco, or release a totally new one, what would you like them to release? Q1: If it were older, what is the one you'd like to have rerun? Q2: If it is not released yet, what would you like to see?
Yep...I have to agree. I'd most like to see another release of SD45s. And this time they'd be decoder-ready! But....one can never have enough Dash-9s.
If they produce an SD70M I am sure it would sell quite well. There are a lot of those things running around on various Railroads around North America. Also, I believe if they redisgned the C44-9W, they could have an AC4400CW which would have quite a bit of potential in the N scale market. Happy Railroading! Dane
I forgot the Geep 50, and the original SD40. I also forgot tunnel motors, partly cuz on my layout, there is no need for them. Ont he Dash 9's, I can not have too many, either, but the AC4400CW is basically a Dash 9 with AC components, right? I think it is indistinguishable from normal -9's. Am I correct in this? I like the new feature. I HAD to try it out, and this topic will get lots of traffic, methinx.....
Now here the test of my knowledge of diesel part names. On the conductors side of the AC4400CW there is a big think that jets up behind the cab. It is fairly noticable as opposed to the lower 'step' on the C44-9W. Also, if Kato did the AC44 they could do those new flexi-trucks too, that would be cool Dane
Thanks, Dane. I think AC44's have an extra set of louvers/vents under the cab # on one side, denoting AC-traction. Something for air conditioning, or something? Thanx for all that participated in my poll!
Where are the rumor mills for a re-release of the GP50s? I'd like to add my two cents worth and register a plea for a re-release of this model.
It was mentioned in passing by Mr. Kato at a train show early last year (I'd kinda konsider that at least an interesting source for a romur).
I have five BNSF/ATSF dash-9's now, but it's still not enough. I would like to see the GP38, however.
If they are going to re-release the GP50, it would be great to see them do a GP60/GP60M on the same mechanism. They would have several road names for the GP60, and could do 3 or 4 variations on the GP60M (Warbonnet, BNSF Warbonnet, H2). As for an all new Kato model, I would like to see them do an SD70M/SD75I/SD70MAC. If they came out with these two models, it might cause me total financial ruin...
I would like to see a new & improved SD40 and SD45 that is better detailed and DCC ready. The prototype roads are using a lot of these "cores" for rebuilding projects, so there are an abundance of road names to model. I thought when the SD40-2's were announced, Kato had stated that they were going to produce many variations; so far, I think we have only seen the "early" models and the snoots. Any word on the rest?? Harold
I would like to see them release nothing so that when I while I am spending money on tracks and turnouts, I don't feel I had missed anything.....lol.
