Nice to see that the railroads are the first to resume anything close to full service in that area.

No running required. In 150 MPH winds people become tumble weeds.

You're likely be much safer in a (stopped) locomotive than getting out and running. lol. :D

You might be safe from the wind but not the rasing water.

Now there's a brave soul! Traction motors are not waterproof. And roadbeds under water don't support much weight!

One can only surmize that the required track inspection has been conducted and it looks like the prescribed slow orders are being obeyed. :D

In a situation like this, does he have to take on board a marine pilot?

I'll bet you think those are fuel tanks on the sides of all the locomotives ... in reality, they are pontoons. :D

Ouch. If that is ever rebuilt, it'll cost a few million dollars!

Not a good situation at all...this will take YEARs if not decades to really recover from.

I wander though, why didnt the railroads send everything north or east or west that they could? Get at least the power and MOW stuff out of harms way.

That would have taken planning, something that was in short supply all around in both the private and all the government sectors local on up before the storm hit. Hind sight is a wonderful thing. It will take a long time to forget all of this so hopefully the next time something like this comes along, there will be workable plans in place.
