guys i need some help. are all of the katy 40-2's the phase 2 version with the later grilles on the radiator or did they have some phase 1's with the "chicken wire" grilles? for some reason kato only thinks that the phase 1's were all they should do for now! thanks mitch
Mitch, MKT 600-636 were built in a time span from 1978 to 1981, and came with the corrugated radiator grille. Athearn has just such a diesel in HO, (not sure who has one in N). Hope this helps.....
Postscript- 613 and 628 came to grief in a wreck, and the frame from 613 and prime moved from 628 went into 637, built in 1985. My source is from J. Parker Lamb's book "Katy Diesels to the Gulf".
