I was wondering how many of you guys would buy Kaydee 58's without the trip pin if you could. I took one off last night and it looks so much better. I am pretty much over delayed magnet uncoupling and have every intention of bamboo skewering from here on out.

What do you guys reckon - should we try to get the 58's produced with and without trip pins? It would be a time saver. (not that it took that long to dremel the pin off, but it took a couple minutes to file 'er smooth)

Nah, I figure it would be easier for Kadee to just go ahead and make them with the pins, and let those that don't want them cut em' off. There are still lots of guys out there that use the uncoupling ramps (myself included, it's what is used at my train club). I agree though, they look better without the pin and some decent air hoses installed. Cutting them off is pretty easy, though....I have an old pair of Xuron cutters (not the ones for cutting track!)that work well for cutting off the pins on stuff I intend to display at shows or contests.

I too cut off the Kadee trip pins with a pair of old wire cutters and then with a heavy grade Dremel cut off wheel grind the cut smooth and flush. The reason I do it if you bend those things to clear switches and so on it starts to look uneven and terrible looking and all. I get rid of that and make it much better looking without the trip pins! :DAnd no problems crossing switches and cross overs or diamonds... Also makes the loco look realistic with out them being the real ones have hoses... yes... But don't have as much sag on the hoses as the Kadee's look to have! :D
