Does anyone have any pictures of these newly aquired Gp-38 by the KBS, they opperate where I was born. I thought it would make a unique project
I haven't seen any pics, but I DID hear disturbing news tha may be no more than a rumor- that the KB&S is getting rid of its Alcos and going with EMD. If this is true, then that makes one more Alco bastion gone (read: Utah Railway and Green Bay & Western)
The day I visited, back in 2000 they already had two leased geeps on-site, but I'm glad I got to see three working Alco's as well!
Go here for the present KB&S roster, accurate as of 9-11-2003. As you can see, the last two remaining Alcos are out of service, albeit in servicable condition. The rest are in dead storage. So another Alco bastion does bite the dust
Looks like a GP40, of course, a GP38-3 rebuild can come from almost any core (NS is using GP50's!) Harold
Well it is a GP38-3. It started out as a GP40 but the turbo charger is gone and two exhaust stacks are visable. UP has a bunch of them and they make pretty good engines. Greg
