    hello all:
I am now a major CSX fan.
I live in ET and got back into model rr & railfaning in 2000 after a 17 yr hiatus.
Well I thought about modelling what the local lines that run thru here are, so I read up on the NS & CSX rr and and it became clear that CSX was the way to go.

So I will probably have 1 NS caboose & diesel, I will most likely have several CSX locos & consists of CSX rolling stock & cabooses.

And while on the subject, if anyone is in the Knoxville, TN area, then you might try and go down to the University of Tenn. campus near the baseball stadium. next to that is a small switch yard. I was lucky enough one day to go down, camera in hand, and see some Chessie System locos sitting there.

Another good place to try is at Solway Juction in West Knoxville, it is up "Pellissippi Parkway" toward Oak Ridge,TN.
There is a great hobby store there called Tennessee Model Hobbies and across the highway is CSX trackage. About every time I go to the hobby store a CSX train goes by.
on the 16th of Jan. (2001) I was lucky enough to see 2 trains, each had newer engines and the 2nd one had 7 locos--5 CSX, one a SD70 EMD (burgundy) lease unit and one w/letters including an X (a leased unit of some type).

Welcome to the CSX forum! I guess you'll be our East Tennessee expert [IMG]

I am not familiar with the lines that currently run thru the Knoxville area, but it sounds to me like you have already done your homework. CSX is definately "colorful", with all of the leased power that is on the rails. As far as the burgandy SD70's, those might the ones CSX recently acquired from EMD/LLPX; there is a separate topic on that with some pictures. Be sure to check the "archives" of topics for any items you may have missed!

I'd also like to extend my welcome to the CSX forum. As Harold said, browse throught all the topics to find out anything you missed or any interesting info you might pick up. I'm up in New York, on CSX's recently acquired (from Conrail) Albany Service Lane (soon to be called Albany Division).

Feel free to bombard us with any questions or more railfan sightings. Pictures are also a good thing, so if you can scan them somehow, that would be great. They really tend to enhance a discussion.

    Welcome aboard!

My sister-in-law, (bless her heart), lives in Knoxville, Tn. She took these photos for me when the Challenger came through. the first one is the engine, second is the tender and note the extra water cars behind the tender. Are you in these photos Jaijef?
(She also got the 1218 but those are not here).
