Through L&C, the California-based winemaker will have access to both CSX and Norfolk Southern—a site-selection requirement, according to the 62-mile short line subsidiary of Gulf & Ohio Railways. Gallo will also be served by the Port of Charleston. The $423 million Gallo complex, to be located on a 650-acre industrial site, will include production, bottling, canning and distribution for both domestic and international products. It is slated to create 496 new jobs over the next eight years. Construction is due to start soon, with a Phase I opening projected for October 2022. “We could not be more appreciative of the collaboration and support shown by the state of South Carolina, the South Carolina Department of Commerce, and those in Chester County, along with all of the public and private entities who have embraced this project throughout the planning process and have welcomed us to the community,” Gallo CEO Ernest J.
