Does anybody know what happened to L.G. Thek Brass Works? I found his site offline.

Frank, Lajos is the man in charge. I know he had cataracs remove, and ran into problems financing his ventures. This is from memory, so I can be wrong. I don't remember like I used to. :C

    http://www.searails.com/powermax.html

Searails seems to have the chassis for sale so not sure if Lajos produces them for Searails or if Searails bought him out, or just his stock , or ?, Searails does not have the Z scale switcher brass body, so do not know where that ended up. It looks like Lajos did not renew his domain name and his registrar is using it for advertising, which is a standard practice for abandoned domain names.

I'm still adjusting. The surgeries were 100% out of pocket expenses for me, but things are getting better. I've abandoned the zthek.com domain, but the www.lgthek.com is alive and well. However, there are no products offered (with the exception of N-scale chassis) via the shopping carts. First I have to straighten up all the old orders, then see what happens...

Searails' chassis has nothing to do with Lajos

    Lajos,
I'm very pleased to hear that you are improving. These situations are never easy, but made even more difficult producing Z scale products! Best wishes for a speedy recovery. We need your talents!

Hi Lajos, I was relating my post purely to the Powermax. We really don't want to talk about N stuff, yuk! ;)

Gerd, why are you saying that the Powermax is N scale ?
I have both engines, the one from Lajos and the one from Searail (Powermax), and both engines have different specific dimensions, and fulfill different needs, plus they run both fine.

I needed the Powermax for it's lower dimensions, and it inserted well into my EMD model 40 frame, which is Zscale.

There is more than one version of this chassis, There is one for 9 mm track and one for 6.5mm track and in addition there are two gearing ratios that I know of. The one I have from Searails has a larger geare on the tranverse shaft with worms that power the two axles so a larger gear reduction and runs much slower than the original one I got from Lajos and both have the diodes installed. The Searails one has lighting installed also. I changed the center over head pivot mount for the coupler mounting tabs produced by Tom Knapp and sold by Republic Locomotive works.

I'm not talking about it, read my thread again. The Searails Ge25T is Nm, therefore N, so scale spoken not a Z loco even it run's on Z rails.

Very good to hear from you Lajos, and that you are doing somewhat better. I hope that things continue in a positive direction for you, and that we can all enjoy the fruits of your skill and labor again someday.

    Take care.
