Here are my latest purchases from shapeways, starting the process to get them on the layout and into operation. FA unit mounted on Micro trains F chassis and with Alco truck side frames from Hallmark Veranda Turbine. behind the FA is a boat tail observation car on Micro Trains trucks.
I have an old Marklin obs I have been slowly redoing, took forever to sand off the stainless "fluting" off the sides, phew!! Yours are looking great!! More pics as you go, please!
Hi Garth. I see you have indulged in a shapeways Alco. Would you like some of my grill decals? I'll post you a couple if you do. They I certainly made the side of my U.P one come alive. I don't know what colour scheme your planning but if it is a dark colour you can use a lighter back ground to highlight them. I am planning to do the roof grill as well when I get a decent drawing to scan in I've just received a parcel of goodies from Shapeways 8 tanktainers (four of each type) Rotary snowplough Duluth Missabe caboose wide vision caboose and a coil car The plan is to convert an MTL F7B to a BN RSPU (Rotary Snowplough Power unit) to couple to the snowplough and do the pair in Cascade green and black cheers Kev
Hi Kev; CP action red with packman logo so grill decals should work fine. I am looking at BLMA to see if any of their fans would work on top of hood. I would like to shrink the alco truck side frames about 10% from thr Hallmark ones I am using. I do not know if our Ozzie Master builder offers his brass etchings for sale to other builders or not. I am waiting to see if our designer comes up with the B unit also. I am working on lighting the number boards with fibre optic laid horizontally and shaped to a rectangular lens. The reduced light, due to orientation, should be just about right for number boards
I just ordered stonys bay window caboose. I was wanting to see how 3d printing looked before buying other things. The fa was one thing I was going to buy. Looks good.
