    Hi Pastor David,

I am blessed in the fact that I am able to be in the hobby as wonderful as model railroading and also have a bit of excess things I dont need I can share with others. I myself live by the idea of doing the right thing in helping out others when and if I can. I've been on the receiving end over the course of my life at times in various hobbies which I am very appreciative for and I like to pay the favor back forward sort of speak when I can to a fellow hobbyists by helping them out by helping promote our wonderful hobby in some small way. I have really enjoyed making new friendships while doing so which I think is one of the best parts of this hobby we all enjoy. Be on the lookout for a box that will be arriving early next week. All I ask is that you enjoy what I sent in building yourself a nice little layout of your own to enjoy and share with others......

You are very much welcome my friend!

    Take care now and enjoy!

    Thank you, Wayne. :)

I'll be looking for it. I took another measurement, just to be sure, and it looks like I'll be okay. I'll see about getting a piece of plywood from our local limber yard. Since this is only 30 inches by 45 inches. Anyone with thoughts of what would work best and still stay light? Maybe plywood, chipboard, something else? I need to think about legs for the table so the height will allow enjoyment without leaning over quite so much. I figure a little less than waist height. I guess I shouldn't have to be concerned about a brace, considering the small size. I'm pretty clueless about foam. Is there a specific thickness I should have on the wood base?

Thank you again. I'll let you know the day it arrives. I'm looking forward to running a train again. Also, I'm still lurking, trying to learn about N scale. I'm here, just watching and reading the board. I enjoy Jon Grant's photos he shares. I believe he did a snow scene. I used to have his photos on my old computer until it crashed and burned. My son gave me his old computer so I'll have to check to see if his photos are still available. Love those snow scenes.

    Blessings and best wishes,

    Pastor David J. Kress, Sr.

    Hi Pastor David!

Foam maybe the way to go for a layout your size.....

If you use the 2" thick foamboard it provides plenty of strength and support plus considering the size layout you are building, you could just build your layout on the foamboard and set it on an existing table like a dining room table or fold up table and when you want to take it down for more room just take the layout on foamboard off the table and lean it against a wall or put it under a bed for safe keeping. The foam is light, easy to carve for scenery and easy to pick up and move around.

My layout is 4' x 4' on 2" thick foam. I have a couple of loops of track which I plan on adding a few sidings to. I have a small tunnel,a river with multiple bridge crossings and a downtown area. There is a lot going on in a small area but so far I am very pleased with the results in my layouts infancy. I have a mrc sound system also which adds to the realism plus the kids really enjoy all the sounds also!

You can do a lot in a small space to give you plenty of enjoyment!

Enjoy the journey with all the goodies coming your way!

    Take care,

    Wayne

Just got your package ... thank you kindly :)

    Hi-ho there, Wayne.

Just got your package today. First class mail! I'm wondering who was more excited about this ... you sending it, or me receiving it! *chuckles*

I went through the box and I appreciate everything you sent. All will be put to good use as soon as possible. I had a setback the week before last. Our refrigerator went bad. It was 25 years old. She served her purpose, but refrigerator's are expensive. I about had a cow when I found that a new one cost $631.25, (that includes the tax) and then the loss of groceries that perished.

Anyway, I wanted to let you know it arrived. Lots of track to get started and other goodies. I appreciate your thoughtfulness and sharing. :) It's saving me with such tight finances.

When I can get something up, I'll try my hand at taking some photos and will make an attempt to post. I've been checking prices on new and used N scale as well as checking the dreaded ebay for a switcher, loco, and a few rolling stock. At least that's my goal.

    Blessings and best wishes,

    Pastor David J. Kress, Sr.

    Hi Pastor David!

I'm glad to hear the box arrived safe and sound.....

I hope you can put to use all I sent in some way to get a layout up to enjoy!

With Winter coming hopefully you will have some free time to do so.....

My layout has been creeping along slowly with scenery and such.

Its a pleasure when I do get time to work on it when I dont have other obligations to full fill.

Anyhow, Enjoy and keep us up dated on your progress!

    Take care,

    Wayne

    Finally getting an engine ...

With our recent tax return I purchased an engine. I shouldn't have, but did. *chuckles*

Just thought I'd let those know who were interested.

Hopefully, I'll be laying track in the near future :)

I'll chat with my son at some point to see about posting a photo or two once I get something going.

*waves insanely on his way out*

Ditto! I missed this place over the past 8 months, especially when there are things like this going on.
