    Chris:

It's always a great feleing when you're able to run trains on a new layout.

You'll enjoy it even more so with your Lenz 100 DCC system.

Stay cool and run steam.... [IMG]

Here are a couple of images. I was going to lay this track today, but that didn't work out. My code 55 was actually code 70.

The mountain range goes in the middle, but I have to get the rear trackage in first. The mountain range will close this scene up nicely.

Love to hear your comments. I am no professional at this by any means and I am not sure the scenery will ever be done, but this is a good start.

The scenery is starting to look good. I hope you get the track situation settled before too long.

Just a side note; after so many years modeling trains, I always check what I buy when it's delivered. it saves alot of anguish if you do this.

I'm glad to see a few pieces of track on the layout. The weathered rails look great. What color did you use?

I used grimy black as the base as you suggested.

For the ties, I used Rail Tie Brown.

For the rails, I mixed Rust with Rail Tie Brown.

The Unitrack came today. I think I have my 20" radius figured out with no cutting. I am so excited. I can't wait until tomorrow.

    Chris:

I knew the Unitrack would fit in that radius. Just lay it out and see where it takes you. You can make adjustments by cutting sections if you have to.

Just by painting the roadbed a grimy black, the ties a rail tie brown and the rails a mixture of rust and rail tie brown gives the track a different look.

After you ballast the Unitrack with a natural rock ballast, you won't know it's Unitrack.

Have fun running trains in the meantime while you work on the fine details of your layout.

Here are some updated pics. I am still working on the 500' trestle and 200' steel viaduct, but they are almost complete. I just have to work on the scenery around them and wire them into the DCC bus.

What do you think about the weathering on the trestle and the photos in general. My low resolution Nikon doesn't do the scene justice. I am happy with the progress. Let me know what you think.

I am really happy with the ways I have learned to manipulate Kato Unitrack and mate it up to say code 70 ME bridge flex track. I am getting really good and cutting and piecing the Unitrack. After I paint it grimy black, paint the rails, paint the ties...it looks incredible. Thanks to Bob, PowerSteamGuy, for all of his help.

    If I may...

...if you have larger trees, place those near the front for some forced perspective.

    Overall - lookin' great!

    Chris:

Your latest photo's of your layout look great. I'm glad that I could help you out with the Unitrack. It was my pleasure to do so.

I'm anxiously awaiting some photo's of the Unitrack up to this point in time.

Your trains must run really well on the wired segments of the Unitrack.

Your layout is progressing nicely. The Unitrack looks great and it looks like you're ready to firm up the hills with plastercloth.
