With a slight hesitation due to my gallbladder surgery, progress has resumed on the Galesburg & Savanna. The NTRAK Thursday night crowd came over a couple of weeks ago and Bob Faust had a sample of some laminated curved 1x3s he made up for some NTRAK corners he was building. Since I have a bunch of layout sections with curved fronts, he volunteered to make up the 1x3s using his new system. We made up full size cardboard templates and last Thursday he brought in enough curved pieces to do 7 key layout sections. We used two of them to install the River Street Curve off the Mississippi River bridge at Dubuque on the upper level and the curve north of Bishop Hill, Illinois on the lower level. I have a photo but have had difficulty posting it to the list, so am sending this narrative at this time without the picture. I plan on doing all the layout sections, then installing the roadbed spline, rough foam landforms, skyboards and fascia before starting to lay track and ballast. Hope to be laying track this spring and have some trains running by end of summer! Charlie
Charlie, Whats the issue with uploading the pic to railimages? If the pic is too big send it to me and I'll upload it for you.
Paul- I think the file size was too large. While I am a heavy PC computer user (keyboard hours, not commenting on my girth!) I don't relish the arcane bits and bytes level of knowledge that Mr. Gates has assumed all of us want to delve into.... Hence I learn the mumbo-jumbo only when I get into trouble or have to.... leaves more room in the old cranium for train knowledge and other things that I Want To Know. I will send you the file.... the address after your name was Alan Curtis's site...is that the place? Charlie
Charlie the file was a tif file so it could not be loaded to railimages. I have resaved it as a jpeg file and loaded it into your album.
