I searched the archives and saw some comments to the effect that one viable approach to constructing a layout is to use Kato's apparently bulletproof no. 6 turnouts in conjunction with readily available Atlas code 80 sectional track/flex track. But several of those posts were four or five years old. Has this approach held up over time? Or have problems/issues surfaced?

I realize there are appearance issues (not as important to me as operational reliability) and the need to equalize road bed height (which doesn't appear too difficult).

I already have a fair amount of code 80 track and roadbed on hand. Responses to my earlier post have pretty much convinced me to go to at least no. 6 turnouts. And from what I can see from other posts on this board the Kato no. 6's are pretty foolproof and bulletproof.

Good approach? Mistake? Any advice appreciated.

You can't go wrong with Unitrack #6 turnouts. Mine have been reliable for more than 10 years.
