What is the proper way to wire a LED in line with a tortoise switch. I am using DP switches. I want to wire a led inline with the switch so I can see witch way the switch is set. Any help would be gerat.
OK here you go http://www.circuitron.com/index_files/INS/800-6000ins.pdf it shows how to wire the switch machine properly. Jim
This is the easiest method I have ever found. I am not good at wiring, but this was so simple even I could do it. At first it took a while, but now i can get one of these done in no time. And I have even done some different wiring where I have two main LED's and one green diverging route LED. Really easy method. And with your tortoise no resister is required. Neat ! http://www.tonystrains.com/technews/tortoise/wiring-leds.htm Hope this helps you as much as it helped me. Jim Lowery
Hi, When I was using some Tortoise machines I just wired in series a two lead bicolor LED between the DPDT switch and the Tortise. It showed green with the switch in one position and red in the other. Did not have to use a resistor doing it this way, Tortoise acted as resistor. You can then place the LED anywhere you wish, e.g., at the switch being controlled by the tortoise (which I did) or next to the DPDT switch. I wired my LEDs so that it would be green on the primary (normal) routing and to be red for secondary (diverging) routing. Hope this helps. Sorry for the crude drawing Gary
