Hey, lets have a thread where we can show off some our SAL and acl modeling. I will start it off with a shot of one of my scratchbashed SAL wetrock phosphate cars and a Seaboard Ventilated Express car. Denis Blake
Thanks Thanks...That was the first one that I built and after building 50 more of them it is still the best one I have built. Now, I will give some time to that other road, we all know which one that is, the acl...:shade: Here is one of their wetrock cars. Denis
Denis - Nice modelling there. You've given me a few ideas for any extra hoppers that I might acquire, but at present that would probably be item #6000+ on my "to-do" list. Unfortunately I don't have a camera, much less a digital, which is probably needed to post photos on line although I plan to talk my wife into purchasing one (for the grandchildren, don't you know!). My scrath or kit bashing efforts thus far have been limited to converting T-M X-29's to modernized SAL boxes (brake-gear only). Fortunately it seems that on the EC phosphate cars either ran in unit trains or in blocks on some freights. My most numerous cars are as many different types of FGEX cars as I can acquire for my era (1957-1967).
This is one of my favorite cars. It is a stock Micro Trains N scale car, but it has been weathered with chalks. In this picture it is spotted at Friedrich's Air conditioning to be loaded. I like the round ACL logo, perhaps because I remember it from my youth.
