Like the sound of a detailed cab with operating windows. We are finally getting what HO has enjoyed for so long! Russ Hoffman Valley RR
Any suggestions on how to justify one of these beast on a modern day BNSF layout? Sure looks like it will be a nice engine.
BNSF fan wanted to know how to justify a steamer....simple, fan excursion trip, complete with photo runbys, or even moving to a railroad museum. Jeff Augsburg & Concord R.R. (a fictional shortline in Central Illinois) http://www.pegnsean.net/~revnjeff
There is a steam nut here who has a beautiful picture of a Intermodal train double headed by a pair of 2-8-8-2s. Looks very impressive, I am sure this is a way to justify it through Freelanced prototype. I tried to find the picture to repost it here, but I couldn't find it....It is Pretty recent, but then, the rate of new material here is quite high right now. I am sure somebody remembers seeing it somewhere along with some of Alan's pitures...If I remember right, there was a discussion within it about short, early-era trailers.
If Union Pacific can run the 3985 on a shakedown run hauling a stack train east out of Cheyenne over Archer Hill, then you can certainly run 2-8-8-2s on an intermodal. Think of it as a shakedown run of heritage equipment before tourist season.
