I just got my digitrax system in and tried to install the decoder in one of my gp-9's. They come with a pc board in them that has the cut points marked and the pin # locations on them. I made the conections and the motor runs fine but I cannot get the headlights to work. Has anyone else had this problem? Should I toss the pc board and just wire the decoder to the wires?
If you bypass the P2K curcuit board you will need to wire 220 ohm resistors on the light bulbs or else you will fry them!! The bulbs are only 1.5V so either change them to 12V bulbs or wire in the resistors. I found that removing the board gives more room for the decoder. 2slim
Did anyone notice TTX has the P2k plug in decoders with silent running? http://www.ttx-dcc.com/technews/silent_ttxgp7_manual.htm
I used one of the TTX replacement boards for this loco, took the circuit board out and installed TTX's board. Works like a charm, no problem whatsoever. ------------------ Corey Lynch Pres - Rensselaer Model RR Society, NEB&W RR http://www.rpi.edu/~lynchc/Railfanning/railfanning.htm - My Site http://www.union.rpi.edu/railroad/ - NEB&W
