I have 7 of them so far (2x CP FA1, 3x CP FB1, 1x GN FA1 and 1x GN FB1), and am very impressed by them.
They are all smooth and quiet runners and with all that weight, they are very good at lugging the freight around. 2 of mine had no problems pulling a 79 car train around the nTrak layout at the last meeting. [IMG]
Conversion to Micro Trains 1015 (universial mounting shim down) couplers took about 5 Minutes for each unit (that includes the time it took to assemble the couplers)
Each of my units will loose a little of its weight in order to make room for a decoder and my only gripe is that they are not DCC ready. :(
Still, the FA/FB1 is another big step forward for Life Like.
    Happy Modeling.
    Cheers!

Are you modeling the Kettle Valley? My son and I go to buddies home every Friday night where he is modeling the Kettle Valley in HO.

We just watch a video loaned by a friend with two episodes of the KV... from a series called Ghost towns and Mining Towns...or something like that. It has taken me a long time to develop an appreciation of the Kettle Valley but it is slowly settling in. I never realized how much it snows in the Couchalaha (sp) area.

Yes, I am modeling the Kettle Valley, although my interest extends to the "Carmi Subdivision" from Midway to Pentiction, and eastward along the "Boundry Subdivision" as far as Grand Forks (connection with the Great Northern).
I model the era from 1950-1070 inclusive, and while my layout is presently on hold (there is a good possibility that we will be selling our present house and buying a new one), I am still plugging away on my 12'x 2 1/2' NTrak module and oNeTrak module, both of which will have a definite KVR flavor when complete.
That vidio from the Gold Trails and Ghost Town series is very good, also see if you can get hold of a copy of "Kettle and Caboose" and "Around The Horn, The KV Line 1890-1989".
    Both are very entertaining.
    Happy Modeling.
    Cheers!

From what I hear these are fine running locos. I haven't run my GN A-A set as yet but they have been stripped and modified to represent Soo's units. I have a couple of pics I need to either transfer off the notebook or upload from it. I'll probably make a page for them. [IMG]
