My son received a Lionel O Guage Polar Express set for christmas, with the low exchange rate and freight, it cost a fortune.
We hooked it up using a professional step down transformer to convert to U.S. current.
The second time we started it a spark came from the track and the train stopped, we tried unsuccessfully to get it going without avail, so turned it off.
When we tried later on Christmas Day to get it working for him, I noticed that the green power light on the CW-80 was not even lit. I tested the step down transformer and it is fine, so it must be the CW-80.
Does anyone have any advice on how this could be repaired by an electrician without knowledge of this product, or is there anyone in Australia who can help me.
My son is devastated, not the start to model railroading I wanted for him, as he has always been a passionate train lover.

have you given Lionel tech support a call yet. That would be my first suggestion. It still should be under warranty.
