There must be some changes on the locomotive itself to make it closer to Polish version: A and B - must be removed C - there is a box instead of more complicated equipment D - must be more flat E - those items do not exist on Polish locomotive but I do not think I will be able to remove it properly :-( They stay in place. F - top light must be removed. Two bottom lights must be bigger. Some "cuts" on the model as well as added box ithe front of the cabin. To make the box I used some scrapbox item (unused and modified part of KIBRI kit).
The Oi2 project finished. Locomotive finally painted and with decals. Tender slightly weathered. "My baby" Located in proper environment: With a train - truly speaking it should be passanger not a fright. Those locomotives were mainly used for local passanger trains...
Reminds me the very last time I've seen a commercial steam train in Europe! It was in 1992 or 1993... Unfortunately I was 6000 ft above, flying under an IFR flight plan, over Poland. I wouldn't have been allowed to cancel my flight plan and go down. I just remember I was above a railroad and in sight of a black "worm" going along, with a nice white cloud puffing over the "worm"'s head. Dom
It is time to start to plan locomotive conversion of BR52 into Ty2. The tender is already waiting. Action plan is based on comparison of photos and the model. It has to be remembered that the original Ty2-911 for which I have decals has been rebuilt in it's history and not all details were the same over the time. Left side: Front: Right side: A - lights - Polish lights are bigger. Original Marklin to be replaced by 3D printed. B - stairs under smoke-box to be added (3D print element) C - snowploughs - still decision to make. They can be installed only when decision to cut original coupler is done D- small front wheels - they should have spokes. At the moment I do not have this type of the wheels... Probably to be changed later on. By the way some Ty2 had full wheels as well. E - smode deflectors - to be added F - should be smaller and flat G - small item to be added (flat box style) H - More pipes should be added - I decided not to do so. Also some small equipment (rounded shape) on the left hand side to be added. This one I plan to do. I -Box - on older photos - there is a box. It was removed during some repairs of the locomotive. I decided not to cut it. It will be difficult to do so. J - Electric generator to be added - 3D print K - To be removed L - smoke-box doors - must be more flat M -To be removed N - the edge of walkway - there is no "whole" in the area of the air compressor O- To be removed. Air tank to be installed.
Construction starts by ... destruction. Some parts are removed: action K and O Some parts are added - edge of walkway (item N)
It is time to add smoke deflectors (self production): Some specially designed and 3D printed small items on left walkway were added. Some are just bits from scrapbox.
I got some comments from Polish fellow modellers and made some adjustments: Power generator from the top of the locomotive (next to the cab) was removed. The top of the cab was also changed - there is no more top plate beeeing that distinctive and high. Front lights were placed closer to the edges. They were originally placed to much to the centre...
During Altenbeken meeting I had a chance to buy another BR24 bodyshell. This is the original type of Polish Oi2 steam locomotive. I already converted one - pictures above. Well I had in mind the photo I found while searching for reference material - the same locomotive but with different painting. The cab is green instead of black and the whole apperance is much more "tired": The result of my conversion with some body changes, repainting, Polish decals and weathering added:
Next locomotive project is BR38 conversion into PKP Ok1.
