Big six axle GEs. What type? U33C? -7 series? How can you tell? Didn't ATSF paint the engine type on the cab? Maybe that was CSX. They need help, all right!
These units are ARN-Alberta Rail Net. 1006: C30-7 Ex-LRCX nee NS 8077 nee NW 8077. 1002: C30-7 Ex-LRCX, nee ATSF 8148.
They don't need help, they need Last Rites! Those old beasts are long past saving- looks like they've been hangar queens for so long they're picked clean to the bone!
doofus: How can you get that info so fast? Thanks for posting. I thought they were ATSF, but I mis-identified the paint scheme.
Man! On the second photo that car must have been really flying to have taken off the entire middle of that loco!
BNSF 519 was wrecked at niota, IL. The unit was at fort madison, IA waiting to be sent away for repairs.
Flash, I recognized the ATSF/LRC modified paint scheme. I just went from there. I use this link to help identify locos Loco Research
Of course, how can on forget Rio GRande GP30 #3011, sitting outside roundhouse at the Colorado Railroad Museum. Or maybe this one, of donated COORS SW-8 C988, parked next to Museum building:
Keith, I have a class light for the 3011 I will donate if needed. I know it needs much more but its a start. Shannon WP LIVES ATSF LIVES
Shannon, Any help the Museum can get is greatly appreciated!! Have no idea where the 3011 stands in line for work. Might contact the Museum though. Let them know what you've got and would be willing to donate. Don't know if they've even started looking for parts etc......What would really be nice to have is a WORKING gyralight on the nose!!
Keith, I will contact the museum about the donation. What I need is a web address or a phone number for them if possible. Also I may be able to find the gyro light for the nose. I have a couple of connections I will check out and I will let you know. Shannon WP LIVES ATSF LIVES
