[IMG] Back in 1965, CRI&P GP35 #305 looked like this. Simple but sharp. We all know that later on this paint scheme was modified to the yellow and maroon. This was another custom paint by my new company, JTW for a good customer in the Bloomington area. This Rock Island stuff is lots of fun to do. The Paint scheme looks easy but take a close look. The fuel tank is maroon with silver ends, silver trucks and the handrails are white while the stations are maroon. The numberboards were "fun". [IMG] Here is a head on shot, night shot at Silvas? Enjoy [IMG]

    Very nice!

I'm always surprised we don't see more modeling of the Rock Island. It was a large railroad!

The “Rock” hasn’t “Flown the coop”.

    It is the coop.

Thanks all, I have fun with this stuff, Rock Island is like the midwest version of the B&M.

Ed, yeah the wife is all hot for a BN SD40-2 Bicentennial unit so maybe this summer. She likes the patriotic stuff. Me, I'm trying to get a couple of B&M GP9's done in a heavly weathered bluebird scheme and Bicentennial scheme done for the Lincoln Square show in March. I have the grab irons done, just need to add the lift rings and wipers.

Hey SD, where is that Rock Island PS1? a little work and that would make a great storage shed for all my Jeep projects. Boy would the neighbors love me  :D

The “Rock Island” chicken coop is located in the booming metropolis of Granite Oklahoma.

More work done this weekend for you Rock fans. The last Trailers to bear the Rock name. Believe it or not, the Rock Island was one of the early TOFC proponants dateing back to as early as 1935. These trailers could be seen in the 1980's unchanged as truck companies bought them at bargain prices, long after the Rock's demise. I painted up a set of four of these I'll sell under the JTW name this weekend in Champaign. Enjoy. [IMG] [IMG]
P.S. Sorry for the fuzzy photo, the white really gave me the fits in the photo room

In Model railroad news they are building a Rock Island railroad layout. The entire building of the layout while be shown each month.

I have a soft spot for the "Mighty Fine Line" and can't resist doing a RI project now and then. This is an old Atlas obs I detailed and painted. I added a full Richmond Controls lighting kit with Gyralight(sp.?) and marker lights as well as a tail sign from Tomar.
