Hi, I just joined hoping to get some info about building an O gauge layout on a hollow door. I built my first layout on a 4x8' plywood board when I was 12 years old and won a automated train schedule device in a Lionel contest. I still have the award letter but sold the prize because I already had one.
Anyway, I'm retired and have purchased a K-Line starter set (Range Runner), a Lionel North Pole set and a few extra cars to use on a door layout. Oh, I also have a MTH Christmas trolley set, too. Hope to find some good ideas here.

Hello Bill, welcome to Trainboard! A few years ago I had built a high rail 0-48 layout that was scale-ish on two hollow core doors. The doors were originally 36x80, but I added a a closet door to both to get a width of almost 4 feet so I could run 0-48 curves. Check out my RailImages account link below and look for the section entitled "Westfield O scale layout." I had a lot of fun with the layout and kept as much as I could with the hopes of building another O scale layout some day.

I run mainly MTH DCS 2.0 now as it is like running a scale train, in fact I even ran nightly op sessions by my self on the Westfield layout. If you get into this deeper, consider the MTH DCS, most of my engines have the 2.0 and sound great. Just picked up a B&M SW switcher for Christmas so my collection goes while I wait for a layout.

    Welcome aboard!
