The Lousville and Nashville had a large amount of Diesel locomotives in their heyday. In the early 1950's it started with the FA2, E6-E9. In the 1970's The L&N began to become a major users of the SD40-2's. Some of thes photos, taken by Jay Thomson. are descriptive of this blog. Of the lighter gray paint schemes, that of L&N might just have been the best. Perhaps it was the color of their lettering, making the right contrast. Handsome diesels. Boxcab E50
